The "What'cha Been Playin'?" Thread

I've had enough of Darksiders 2. That thing was throwing me for a loop on where to go. The stupid crow didn't make it any better since it just kept guiding me to areas I've already been to. So at this point I'm practically done with the game. I don't have the patience to deal with these "where the hell am I suppose to go" moments.

I'm thinking about starting up Assassin's Creed 2 once again to finish everything up so I can finally boot up Brotherhood.

Anyway, I've been playing Street Fighter X Tekken. I had it once before, but eventually got rid of it due to the crap that Capcom was doing. I ended up getting it again through buying Street Fighter 25th Anniversary, and it came with free DLC stuff (basically everything that cost something was free), I am a little disappointed that the alternate costumes weren't included in being free, but whatever. Anyway, what changes coould've possibly made me buy this game again? 2013 patch happened and that was pretty much all that was needed. Capcom couldn't fix the timer issue per se, but they made the roster do more damage, and red life recovery has been slowed down dramatically. With these changes the game looks fun (feels better). The reason I say "looks" fun is because I watch a lot of tourney matches, and in order to get me to play fighting games I have to be inspired to actually play. And before the patch you just had fights ending with timeouts, and there's nothing exciting about seeing matches end in timeouts.

With that said, I've been having fun in trial mode trying to learn some of these characters. I've completed almost all of Ryu's trials with Jin, Ken, Hwoarang, Asuka, and Kazuya following closely behind. I will say that at the moment Jin is the character I will be using the most. Outside of Guy, I'd probably say Jin is my favorite character in fighting games. Ever since he was introduced in Tekken 3 I just liked Jin (and Hwoarang). Sure he comes off as emo, but whatever. He's a cool character. I like his design and moveset. Anyway, I haven't figured out who I want to team Jin up with yet. I'm definitely considering using Kazuya, Lars, Hwoarang, and Ken. I doubt if I play many characters from on Capcom side since most of them are almost identical to their SSF4 counterpart, whereas the characters from Tekken have their ways to pass through fireballs and then they have their chains (for someone like me who're terrible at performing some combos is great) so they just feel more fun. One thing I hate about the roster are these troll characters. Koro, Toro, Megaman, Cole, Pac-Man (who have no business to be in this game in the first place), and Kuma. Characters like these just make me cringe every time and make me want to shout "WHY!!!!!!" Then again I've always had issues with this minor quibble dating back to MvC1 (so you can just imagine how I am every time people say something along the lines of wanting to see Capcom vs Nintendo).

Being stuck in bed for the past few days, I returned to Advance Wars 2 for the GBA. Was trying to set up a custom map based on the old Ogre Tabletop Game. The original game basically had a Supertank (the titular Ogre) verses a more numerous (but individually weaker) combined arms force. The terrain (being a blasted wasteland) is littered with craters and ridges. Either one player got to the other's base, or the Ogre was destroyed.

Due to Software's limits, I had to modify the formula a bit - the only way to win was to destroy all enemy units. For the Ogre I had multiple Neotanks - as powerful as one was, it could never last against 50 other units. To simulate the powerful if immobile and undefended howitzers, I used landlocked battleships. And finding that an ocean square looks like a neat crater, I decided to use them as them for that purpose. And to go for a post-apocalyptic look, I used mostly Road titles to suggest a ruined city scape.

Still tweaking out the balance by having two AI's duke it out with each other. Needs some work.

Well, after all this time since I first bought it in September of 2010, I finally finished Terra's story in Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep (PSP)!!! Here's what I did:

1. I finally managed to complete the Secret Command Board.

2. Found the rest of the treasures in the Keyblade Graveyard.

3. Earned the Secret Gem by earned over 100 Sticker points. I accomplished this when I got the treasures at Peter Pan's Hideout.

4. Picked up 2 new Finish commands.

5. After about 25 tries, I finally defeated Xehanort!!! It was really hard because he was so fast, kept blocking most of my attacks, and kept healing himself. I'm just glad I had 2 Curagas, 1 Cura, and the Dark Volley Shotlock command.

Terra's ending was kinda sad though. Regardless, I'm very happy I completed it. Plus, I got my fifth Xehanort Report and my first Trophy for completing one story!

Now, it's on to Ven's Story where after the Land of Departure, his first world will be Dwarf Woodlands (Snow White's area). I'm looking forward to it!

In Mortal Kombat (2011), I'm on chapter 11 of the story mode. This chapter has me playing as Kung Lao, the Shaolin monk with a razor-tipped hat. I'm not good at playing him, but I'm managing. His teleport move is hard to use because you have to press down, then up. However, it can be done in the air, so that's what I usually do when I want to teleport. His x-ray move has zero range and needs the opponent to be very close to work. His combos aren't half bad though. When I fought Goro, a previous boss battle, with Kung Lao, he was nowhere near as challenging as he was when I fought him with Liu Kang. The two-on-one against Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, on the other hand, was hard. I haven't beaten them yet, but I will.

On my iPad, I found this game called Burt Destruction, which was free this week. It's about a boy named Burt Destruction who is being trained by an organization called team B.E.A.S.T. to fight against team E.V.I.L. and stop their plans for world domination and turning the world hairy (it's a weird game). Burt has the destruction gene which makes him turn into a hulking, eyepatch-wearing, mustachioed, destructive man named Big Burt (he reminds me of a one-eyed Hulk Hogan). Team B.E.A.S.T. consists of Bigfoot (who wears swimming trunks and sandals and is like a brother to Burt), Dr. Dodo (a melancholic dodo bird that's a doctor), and a Neema (a robot maid). Team E.V.I.L. is led by Yeti (who wants to turn the world hairy like himself) and his underlings are a leprechaun couple, the Chupacabra (which looks like it's part reptile, part coyote), and Dr. Wormenstein (a giant German earthworm). Gameplay consists of running through levels, jumping on enemies, and gathering coins and valuables. Gathering coins and defeating enemies fills up Burt's destruction meter, which will turn him into Big Burt for a limited time and allow him to punch through anything in his way. Burt can also call in a friend to help him. Bigfoot stomps enemies on the ground and Dr. Dodo use his hover-boots (dodos were flightless birds) to fly ahead, drop bombs, and show the location of any valuables. This game gets hard by the fourth level of the first stage. I like the cutscenes; it's like watching a cartoon similar to Adventure Time or Regular Show. It's hilarious. The game just came out two weeks ago, so expect a lot of updates and new levels later on.

I've also been playing Plants vs. Zombies, Where's my Water?, Blot, Jetpack Joyride, Pixel People, Early Bird and Friends, and Letters from Nowhere on my iPad as well. Plants vs. Zombies was free this week because it's the App of the Week at the App Store. I couldn't resist getting it because when a game that's normally $3.99 becomes free, you'll want to get that game as soon as possible.

Finally managed to pull myself away from Street Fighter X Tekken. My goodness, Jin's Special Step is fairly easy to do once you get the timing and actually practice it. I'm still having issues doing it from a crouch position though. Combo-ing or cancelling normals into his special step, mental awareness, and power stance will take a little time to get used to, but I'm getting there. I still haven't really got the chance to play as them other characters in my sig (all of my time has been spent on using Jin). I am considering throwing Guy into the equation as well. 3 of the coolest guys in fighting game history (Jin, Guy, Hwoarang) and Lars.

Anyway, I went back to playing Mass Effect 1. As much as people rag on it I still love it. I love ME2 more than ME1 as much as other folk, but ME1 just holds a special place in my heart (kind of like how people go on saying that Mario or old school games in general "should" be respected, or paved the way for games). It broke me out of that rpg slump I was in, and till this day I still prefer most RPG's to be like ME. With that said, I'm playing as Fem Shepard (I started to name her Jenny.. NCIS was in my head), and she's a soldier, and I'm going the Renegade route. I'm currently heading to the Citadel Tower to talk with Kohaku. As far as main objectives. I got to Liara, and am heading to Feros next. I don't know why, but for some reason I just feel safer heading to Feros before heading to Noveria. I never switched up my route when playing as a new character. In my head it seems like Noveria will be really tough if not leveled properly. I think when I finish this playthrough, I'll try to switch it up just to see if anything changes.

Also found myself in quite the gaming slump as well. I fired up Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and God of War 3 for the first time recently (these are the type of games I usually love to play), and dag near wanted to seal them up and trade them in immediately. I'm probably in need some something that I usually stay away from just for the sake of trying something new. I'm still waiting for Alpha Protocol, Infamous 1&2, Prototype 1&2, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, and Dragon Age 2 to arrive.

I also plan on buying Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 and Halo 4. Hopefully, 1 of these will get me out my slump, otherwise I'll only be playing fighting games, Mass Effect, and Metal Gear.

I'm currently on chapter 13 of Mortal Kombat's story mode. This chapter has me playing as Kabal, but first I want to talk about chapter 12, where I play as Stryker.
* Stryker is unique because he's the most normal of all the kombatants. Among the magic users, cyborgs, mutants, gods, and monsters, Styrker is simply a non-powered cop who is caught in the middle of Outworld's invasion of Earth. He makes up for his lack of powers by having an arsenal of handguns, grenades, a tazer, and a baton. You know, police and swat stuff. Stryker may be a normal human, but during his chapter, he fights in this order, Reptile (a reptilian humanoid ninja), Mileena (a crazy womanchild with a lipless mouth full of sharp teeth), Kintaro (a huge, four-armed tiger man that's also a boss battle), and Ermac (a telekinetic being formed from a bunch of souls). His skills are so impressive, that he is chosen by Raiden the thunder god to help him stop the invasion. In my opinion, Styker is one fun guy to play as. His combos and special moves are simple and he has great variety of ranged attacks, including one for enemies that are in the air. I also like his x-ray move: He blinds his opponent with a flashlight, then he whacks them twice upside the head with his baton, cracking their skull. Finally, he tazes them for 3 seconds, which launches them backwards.
* Back to chapter 13. Kabal first appears as Stryker's cop partner in chapter 12, but when Kintaro appears, he roasts Kabal with his fire breath. Kabal is saved by his old partner in crime, Kano, who heals him with magic and a breathing apparatus. The magic also had a side-effect of giving him super-speed. Kabal's not a bad person to play as if you ask me. He uses his speed to spin enemies around, stunning them and leaving them a sitting duck. His standard projectile is nothing special, but his low projectile is a buzzsaw that throws opponents in the air. His x-ray move has him sliding into the opponent's legs at super-speed, breaking their knees (yowch!). Then he runs behind them and drives his hookswords into their back and throws them, shattering their scapulas and ribs.

On my iPad, I've been playing Plants vs. Zombies, Burt Destruction, Subway Surfers, Blot, Where's my Water?, Letters from Nowhere, Trenches II, and The Silent Age.

Since I was at my parents' house for Spring Break this week, I've caught up with playing games I didn't bring to my campus. This week on my Xbox 360, I played Doom 3: BFG Edition, Splatterhouse (2010), Blur, and 'Splosion Man.

In Doom 3: BFG Edition, I finally finished the Resurrection of Evil expansion. The final boss, the Maledict, was a more formidable foe than the Cyberdemon; the final boss of the Doom 3 campaign. I'm now playing the Lost Missions, which is a new campaign made exclusively for Doom 3: BFG Edition. It's pretty good so far. One thing that's new is the Imps can now run on all fours, making them harder to hit.
* One of my favorite features is the sentry bots. Not only are they durable and provide extra firepower, I get quite attached to them. I try to protect them the best I can and even give them names like Scuttles (because they scuttle).

Splatterhouse is a gory beat-em up horror game. It's a reboot of the Splatterhouse series that was made back in the Nineties. The original games can be played on the disc, but I tried them and greatly prefer the remake. I like it so much, I have quotes from the game in my signature.
* Here's the premise: Rick and his girlfriend, Jennifer are invited to the mansion of their professor, Dr. West. When they enter, they're surrounded by monstrous creatures controlled by Dr. West. West plans to kidnap Jennifer for a sacrifice. Rick tries to fight the monsters, but they are too strong and leave him lying on the floor, dying. During the scuffle, an artifact called the Terror Mask is knocked off its pedestal and is awakened by the blood spilt on it. It talks to Rick; telling him to put it on if he wants to save his girlfriend. He does so and it not only healed, but is turned into a hulking, muscular juggernaut. Until he saves Jennifer, Rick cannot remove the mask.
* This is one of my favorite games. It has great action and is very humorous. The Terror Mask needs blood to get stronger and there's no shortage of blood in this game. Performing finishing moves called splatterkills can give extra blood, so try to perform them if you can. Blood also fills the Necro Meter, which allows Rick to use powerful moves like Splatter Siphon (which drains health from foes) and Splatter Slicer. If enough of the meter is full, Rick can go into Beserker Mode; in which the Terror Mask takes control and makes Rick bigger, stronger, and more powerful for a limited time.
* Most of the humor cames from Rick's interactions with the Terror Mask. The Terror Mask is voiced by Jim Cummings, who also voiced Pete from Goof Troop and Cat from CatDog. It's kinda weird to hear his voice in the game especially since the Terror Mask swears a lot. While the Mask loves pain and violence, he grows to care for Rick, but also has his own agenda.

I played Blur a few times with my dad. He likes cars and racing games, so when he saw me playing this game, he wanted to join in too. I'm going to leave this game with him so he can play anytime. In return, I'm taking NBA Jam back with me to my university.

'Splosion Man is a 2.5D platformer that I bought and downloaded from Xbox Live Arcade last year. It's about a childish man made of 'splosive material that was created in a huge laboratory, where he gets loose and unknowingly wreaks havoc everywhere he goes. It's a weird hilarious game made by Twisted Pixel: a little video game company in Texas (they also made The Maw, Comic Jumper, and The Gunstringer). I like the game so much, I have a drawing of him as my avatar. 'Splosion Man's only ability is to explode; which he uses to jump and blow things up. He can only 'splode three times before he has to recharge by touching the floor or walls (floors recharge him instantly, walls take longer). When you kill a scientist, they bleed meat like steaks, ribs, and donuts (like I said, it's weird). The levels aren't that hard until you get to the second stage. If you die too many times in one level, you can skip it, but you get no credit and 'Splosion Man has to wear a pink tutu for the next level.
* The game was so popular, It spawned a sequel: Ms. 'Splosion Man. It came out last year. When 'Splosion Man is finally captured, the scientists celebrate by having a party. One of them spills champagne on the same machine that made 'Splosion Man; which short-circuits and creates a female version of him. Ms. 'Splosion Man then goes on a quest to save 'Splosion Man. Not only is the game bigger than its predecessor, it's much harder as well. Things start getting hard as soon as the third level! If you die too many times in one level, you get the option to cheat. If you cheat, you will skip to the next checkpoint, but you will get zero credit and Ms. 'Splosion Man gains a big booty for the rest of the level (the badunkadunk song that plays when you cheat is hilarious!).

On my iPad, I've been playing Subway Surfers, Early Bird and Friends, Plants vs. Zombies, and Slam Dunk King.

When I'm going back to my university, I'm taking with me Gears of War 3, Left 4 Dead 2, NBA Jam, Condemned 2: Bloodshot, and Naughty Bear. I'm also bringing my memory stick with my profile on it so anything I play on campus would be in my name. I'm glad the people at the technology center restricted access to the public Xbox 360 until 3:00 p.m. back in February. I'm usually the only one using it nowadays and with the way I arranged my classes, I can play until 6:00 p.m. (The tech center closes at 10:00 p.m., but I gotta have time for studies and homework.).

My current progress in KH:BBS, Ven's Story:

I finally managed to clear the Dwarf Woodlands area. It took a few tries but I managed to help Snow White escape the Deep Woods..The final boss battle was a little too easy. Anyway, I picked up the Firestorm command, the Snow White D-Link, and the Treasure Trove keyblade.

Next, I'll spend some time at the Mirage Arena before I head off to the Castle of Dreams to help little Jaq get Cinderella ready for the ball.

I was trying to play Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, and I really should've learned my lesson with UNS2 and stay away from it. It's definitely for fans of Naruto, but I guess my thing is I just can't get into fighting games that only have you utilize one button as an attack button. It feels too much like a button masher. And then certain things that plagued UNS2 rears its ugly head in UNS3. Transitioning from cutscene to gameplay. I will never understand why developers think it's a good idea to have people walk for rough 2 in such a linear fashion to go to a cutscene only to walk again. Anyway, I'm not going to rant about it. I'll just say I don't like the game and be on my way.

As for my progress in Mass Effect 1, I finished up everything on Feros, and am tackling some of these side missions. Just about all the side missions are done. I did find out that I was very stupid in previous playthroughs. I had no idea how good Damping and AI Hacking really was, and that instantly made me start taking Tali everywhere. I also didn't realize how good it was to have both Wrex and Tali together since I always brought Garrus and Ashley (or Ashley and Tali).

Also, decided to step away from Street Fighter X Tekken and go back to Super Street Fighter 4. Got the motivation to pick up the game again.

This week, I've been playing Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, and Left 4 Dead 2. I played other games, but I want to talk about these three this week.

I didn't play Mortal Kombat's story mode this week, but I did play one-on-one with another person at the tech center. We played with several characters, but I want to focus on two fights.
* Our first match was between Reptile (me) and Stryker (other guy). Reptile is a reptilian humanoid ninja that works for Shao Khan. He can spit acid, turn invisible, and shoot force balls that throw an enemy towards him if it hits. His x-ray move starts off with him jamming his fingers into the opponents eyes, snapping their neck, and kicking them in the ribs (x-ray moves aren't fatal, they just do a lot of damage). They guy playing as Stryker was good, but I beat him both times. When it was time to FINISH HIM!, I used Reptile's second fatality, "Weight Loss". The fatality starts off with Reptile becoming invisible and slashing the opponent's neck and stomach. Then he reappears and stuffs a force ball into their stomach wound, which causes their whole upper body to explode. The fatality's name sure is accurate; just think how much faster the opponent can run without their upper body! :p
* Our second match was between Kenshi (me) and Johnny Cage (other guy). Kenshi is a blind swordsman with psychic powers. He's actually a DLC character, but since I got the Komplete Edition of Mortal Kombat, I have all the DLC characters on the disc. Kenshi's special attacks include sending out psychic sword slashes and a psychic copy of himself to fight from a distance. Up close, his combos have great range when he uses his sword. His x-ray move begins with him holding the opponent in place with telekinesis, then he hits them in the head with the butt of his sword (cracking the skull), and slashes them with an upward swing (cutting their ribs and skull) before throwing them. This was my first time playing as Kensi and I lost the first time, but won the second time. When it came to FINISH HIM!, I used Kenshi's second fatality, "Split Ends". It starts off with Kenshi telekinetically lifting his opponent. Then he throws his sword further down the stage, landing on its tip. Finally, he throws the opponent headfirst into the sword, slicing them vertically in half and stopping at the waist.

I can't get enough of NBA Jam. It's one of my favorite sports games. I always play as Miami Heat, since they're my favorite team. I get quite an audience when I play this game. I like how the teams can have only two players on the court. It makes it easier coordinate. I usually don't try with shots, especially three point shots. Instead, I go for the dunks, which are really easy to pull off. I love how the dunks are so over-the-top. Listening to the announcer's color commentary is also a good source of laughs. While I was playing, one guy passing by wanted to play too. I played against him and we tied 62-62.

I played Left 4 Dead 2 with the same guy who played Mortal Kombat with me. We played a little bit of Dark Carnival. He chose Ellis and I chose Rochelle (I thought I chose Coach, but I'm not too picky). I had to teach him how to play, but he got the basics down packed. Whenever he saw a propane tank, he kept making jokes about King of the Hill. We made it through one scenario in one piece, but he learned the hard way that this game is all about teamwork. Honestly, I wouldn't mind playing with him again. He did better than some people I play with, both online and offline. Since the public Xbox 360 has no Internet, I'm stuck playing with the people around me anyway.

on my iPad, I've been playing Subway Surfers, Early Bird and Friends, Bad Piggies, Angry Birds (it was free this week), and Super Mole Escape.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Fairly short game, but I don't mind the length. I did enjoy it though. Blade mode nearly pissed me off though, especially during certain boss fights. I think that's because I wasn't using the Right Analog stick. Story, well, let's be clear, there really is no story, but who cares for story in these types of games? Then again, I should say that it shouldn't hamper the enjoyment in this type of game. The stealth mechanics didn't need to be in the game at all. I would think the game encourages you to go into every area ready to battle. And imo, trying to be stealthy takes away the fun factor in this game because the combat is just so fun and satisfying. I do wish there were more melee weapons instead of using sub-weapons that you'll barely use. It's not as great as a lot of people say it is because there could've been, but it's definitely a good game, and one that I really needed.

I'll be starting up DmC in a little bit so I may edit this post with first impressions. Being a big DMC fan, I'm not expecting this to top DMC3 or DMC4, but I am expecting to have fun with the game since the combat looks very satisfying.

Edit

DmC: Devil May Cry
Just finished the 3rd mission, and while I won't say it won me over yet, it's definitely not a bad game. I can understand the argument about Dante being Dante in a sense since the character comes off as not likable. But the argument about 30 fps vs 60 fps, I can't really compare it since I don't follow that kind of talk, and I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference, but the combat does feel smooth. The absence of a lock-on button is mind boggling though. So far it's not bothering me so much, but I'd feel much better if there was a lock-on.

Most people were whining about the appearance of Dante, and I won't lie, initially, I hated the appearance as well, but got over that fairly quick (I only had an issue with it because the head guy at Ninja Theory decided to make Dante resemble himself). The problem I'm having with the game at the moment is the atmosphere, or rather the vibe of the game itself. Something about playing a game that's telling me about how society is being ran and whatnot just feels "blah". I understand Ninja Theory was trying to modernize the game and in a way they nailed it, but for me I don't care about this stuff in my games, especially when it comes to demonizing things (if that makes any sense at all). It's also a good thing I can turn the music down, because, while it fits the game, I really hate it. I'm just no fan of metal, and while I hated it in the other DMC's I was still able to ignore it. Here it's beyond annoying, but I wouldn't say it hampers anything though. The way I ended up getting this game in the first place was that I had to remind myself that I did enjoy The Crow, and the vibe is similar imo.

Combat, the main thing we should be paying attention to. I can't speak on it too much since I've yet to really get into the meat of things, but I do have both Opinion and Osiris now. Not upgrade though. NT did try to make the combat feel more visceral and satisfying, and they might succeed here since I'm still getting used to the controls as well (slowing the animation down on the final hit never felt so good lol). Speaking of which, I do like the idea of using the trigger buttons for switching between weapons over the d-pad. Then again I still don't know what the d-pad does lol.

For the most part I'm having fun with the game. It's not nearly as bad as fans make the game out to be. Nor is it as great as critics claim it is, at least not yet. We'll see as I progress.

Lately I've been playing Blue Dragon.
I'm on the third and final disc now.

And still trying to get back into Pokémon Black 2 before X & Y come out.

I played the demo of Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, and I'm definitely interested in buying the full game. It's a platformer with the gimmick that you can switch between two versions of the same world (on the fly) to solve puzzles and bypass areas. The demo showed how this feature produces fast and furious platform hopping, and was a genuine challenge without being controller-throwing (i.e. if you die, it's on YOU). And much like Trine, the graphics are gorgeous. Definitely a step up from their 1987 debut, eh?

On the not-so-impressed front, I finally played Revolution X. Yeesh, was that a chore. Besides the fact that it's virtually impossible to hit everybody on the screen without getting hit yourself (since they outnumber you and you have to drag a cursor across the screen instead of using a lightgun), the bosses take forever to die (especially the level 2 helicopter) and the hard rock soundtrack is incredibly repetitive. And in some areas, it's difficult to know what you're supposed to do. In the jungle level, there's a scene where enemies endlessly drop from the ceiling. I wasn't aware that in order to advance, you're not supposed to kill all the enemies, but instead are supposed to shoot the columns on the left and right of the screen. Would've been nice to tell me that! A shame, because the game looked like campy fun, what with Aerosmith such a prominent part of it.

I was at Walmart and noticed Bulletstorm for just $15, so I couldn't resist picking it up. I'd heard about it and read the reviews when it first came out, but then kind of forgot about it until I saw it and figured it was worth the gamble. So far it has been. I think I'm on the third act, and this has got to be one of the most fun and original FPS's that I've ever experienced. The ability to use a whip reminds me of the Bionic Commando reboot. It's got a lot of personality to it and has absolutely gorgeous graphics. I'm having a hard time putting it down.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
Decided to take a break from DmC: Devil May Cry for a little bit to get back into my fighters. I decided to part ways from Vergil for good, at least for now. As much as I like Vergil (favorite character in games. Him and Dante are tied for best characters) I just find his moveset really boring here in UMvC3. Don't get me wrong, he's a great fit for the game it's just his moves are so boring compared to other characters. I suppose it's only natural since he's the best character in the game. Then again it could be that nearly everyone is playing Vergil and I'm tired of seeing him right now, but, whatever.

New Teams
Spencer, Dante, Taskmaster
Wolverine, Dante, Magneto
Wolverine, Spencer, Dante

I don't see myself ever dropping Dante, especially now that I'm beginning to learn how he really functions, not to mention I'm landing some of his combos, and learning his Bold Cancel. Not to mention that he's just really fun. Wolverine I just picked up recently, and came to the realization that I should've started the game with him since he is pretty easy to use, not to mention you only have to remember 1 combo with him and you're good to go. He's also fun, and a fan favorite. Spencer, I think I spoke about him once before but I just love zip lining around the screen with him. Taskmaster, well, much like Wolverine, he's fun and have some fairly easy combos once you get his timing down. I'm not certain if I'm going to keep Magneto or not, but for now I've been told he's good with Wolverine and Dante. If I drop Magneto, I haven't thought about who I'd replace him for, but right now I'm all about having fun. I can have the best team for all I care, but if those characters are not fun then chances are I'm going to drop someone. I still want to win though lol.

Here's my current progress in KH: BBS, Ven's Story:

I cleared both Cinderella's & Sleeping Beauty"s areas. The boss battle aginst the Wicked Stepmother's cat was super easy. The boss battle against Maleficent was a little tricky because she always kept teleporting, but she wasn't too difficult to beat.

I'm gonna put the Mirage Arena Tournaments on hold for a while until I get more abilities for Ven. I'm still trying to beat Cinderella at the Royal Command Board.

Next, Ven's off for a small boss battle against Vanitas. It's gonna be rough even with Mickey's help, but it must be done to get Ven's High Jump ability. Then, it's off to Radiant Garden where I'll get the DisneyTown passes from Scrooge McDuck & Winnie The Pooh's Hunny Pot Command Board from Merlin.

I also had a chance to try Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and it's great! My 2 favorite characters are Chun Li & Wolverine because they're the easiest to use. I just wish Miss Tron Bonne was easy to control like she was in Marvel vs. Capcom 2. It still a fun and exciting game though.

I also had a chance to try Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and I love it!!! The characters are still great and the gameplay is fantastic, considering I've only gone through the Prologue so far. I'm surprised that they decided to keep an Italian accent for lovely Carmelita. I'm looking forward to exploring Ancient Japan next time I play.

Odd, I hear Chun Li is one of the harder characters to use, at least on a competitive level. But I definitely agree with you about Wolverine, though. He's one of the easiest, if not the easiest character to learn because all you really need to know is 1 main bread and butter combo from him, and he'll be good as long as you have good movement. And then on top of that he's a top tier character (it's not often you'll find fan favorites at the top and still be easy to use), and to top it all off he hard and fast. As I said in my post, he is very fun. I'm thinking about teaming him and Captain America (I think I heard that he's another easy one to learn) up with probably Hawkeye or Nova

Mark of the Ninja. I was apprehensive since I don't like stealth games, but gameplay footage intrigued me. I managed to pick it up from the recent Steam indie sell and wow, I am enjoying it so far. I love the versatility the game gives in terms of sneaking around; I especially love that they give you at least two different alternate passages to get past guards or sneak up and kill them. I love that they give you different ways to murder guards beyond just "creep behind them slowly and stab them to death." I love how each ninja tools can be put to good use and isn't just dead weight, yet the game accounts for items you may not have and allows second options to bypass obstacles. Hell, I find it oddly fun dumping corpses in hiding places. They really give you the sense that yeah, you are a ninja.

I think the only blip I don't care for so far is the story because god, every ninja story is about getting vengeance to protect their secret ninja clan ever. Story quibbles aside, I am really digging this game.

In KH: BBS, Ven's Story...

1. I finally won against Cinderella at the Royal Command Board. I did it by accumulating 6000 GPs. Hever, I'll have to go through it 2 more times if I want the Special Ability.

2. I defeated Vanitas! It took me 4 times to pull it off even with Mickey's help, but it was worth it to get the High Jump ability.

3. I'm halfway through Radiant Garden. I got the DisneyTown passes from Scrooge McDuck and I got Winnie The Pooh's Command Board from Merlin's House. I also noticed a few familiar faces at Ansem's Mansion: Dilian (Dix), Aeleus (Lexaeus), & Even The Scientist (Vexen).

So, little by little I'm learning the origins of Organization XIII. The first one I saw was Braig The Bountyhunter (Xigbar) in Terra's Story who was really hard to beat!

No doubt when I get to Aqua's Story, I should learn what Larxene was originally like. Most likely she always had a sharp tongue. Of course, I won't know until then.

Finally got around to playing Back to the Future: The Game, which I got for Christmas. It started out great. I loved the first two episodes. But the story went into really bizarre and depressing and boring directions as it progressed, and some of the objectives were really tedious and confusing. By the final episode, I'd grown so bored with the game I used a walkthrough so that I could just get through the rest of it as quickly as I could and be done with it. Very disappointing.

WB has done so well with releasing the Paramount Popeye cartoons on home media that they should be chosen to distribute the long-delayed animated Popeye film that at various points was to be made by Sony and directed by Genndy Tartakovsky (who has a long association with WB sister property Cartoon Network).

Today marks the 25th Year Anniversary of when Pokémon Crystal was released in North America. To this day, the Johto Games remain my favorite games in the Pokémon Franchise.
Today marks the 15th Year Anniversary of ThunderCats (2011). While I find it unfortunate that the show was canceled before it had a chance to finish its story, I am glad that the show's art director was willing to give fans closure via a podcast interview.
Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
