You know, I've always liked episodes where the protagonists take a backseat to the villains. This has been the second one this season (
New Blood being the first) and it does not dissapoint. Plus, Bishop is always welcome.
Random stuff:
So Karai is officially Oroku Saki's (adopted) daughter--interesting, and it gives insight into Hun's contempt for her. She's the doted-on daughter, the one shown off at all parties; Hun is the bastard child, who cannot be seen in public. Thing is, Hun is by far the more loyal heir, while Karai is the biblical prodigal son.
So it begins: The Foot was bound to run into DARPA/Earth Protection Forces eventually. It's interesting: Bishop knows the basics, but not the specifics; he's basically one step above reporter in
New Blood when it comes to info (speaking of, I rewatched
Hunted recently, and I noticed the reporter among the ones in the "Key to the city" snippet. Nice work). The Foot knows of DARPA, but apparently doesn't know who runs it (if Bishop is indeed the one running things; the chess motiv suggests he isn't).
Something that I've really appreciated and was highlighted in this episode is how the characters have developed different fighting styles. Bishop, for example, likes using everything available as a weapon. Hun does the same, but more crudely, and relies more on his punches. Karai has crazy chain/katana combos. Raph likes to use his sai as projectiles, and is usually the one watching his brothers' backs.
If we don't eventually get a Bishop/Shredder showdown it will be the biggest injustice in cartoon history.
Even moreso than TOaFT pt.2, Fone Bone?

Actually, I'd rather not see them duke it out. From what we've seen, Bishop fights only when forced to (notice that his first instinct once he faces Hun is to just run away). I really can't imagine a situation where they'd both meet, especially with the Shredders' current low profile.
Speaking of, it just dawned on me:
Space Invaders cameo aside, we haven't seen The Shredder all season. Cool. I like that the writers know how not to overuse the characters.
Also, something I came up with a few weeks ago. The Foot? So totally
Wolfram & Hart.
