All Disney is doing is throwing contract $ away by not playing it. It hasn't aired in over a year.

With anime the deals are typically for two years, but Disney has had the rights for just over three now. So it's possible that Disney either purchased a four-year deal or they renewed the rights when the original expired.

The entire series is on Hulu. Crunchyroll is going to be removing the show this Sunday because their license is expiring.

Thanks for the link. While I'm still not into the series, I'm also still willing to watch it to see if it does click for me. I wasn't sure if it was expiring on other sites besides Crunchyroll. I don't know if they upload Eureka 7 on Adult Swim's On Demand page, but I'll see if that's a choice for me as well since that would probably help the block more than watching the series on Hulu.

I'm surprised that Disney still has the rights to Shippuden. Since they haven't aired it for so long, I figured that they let the rights expired. It still makes a bit more sense to put Naruto on the block before Shippuden, especially when Naruto was pretty popular back when it aired on Cartoon Network. Depending on what contract Disney made, they could still possibly get something worked out to air Shippuden, but won't be for quite a while, even if they eventually start to double Naruto episodes.

Would have prefer Naruto airing on weekdays instead of once a week but I guess this okay.Hopefully those Disney Shippuden rights expire by time we reach the fillers near the end of the series.

Considering Naruto has already premiered on Toonami, perhaps we could either revive the original talkbacks or have one single thread for the new Toonami run (like we did with Eureka 7)? Unless it airing Uncut this time around is enough of a reason to make fresh weekly talkbacks.

Yikes, once a week Naruto. Sounds grueling. Plus, it bumps Samurai 7 to 2 AM which is something that I'm not liking. Together with GXP makes for a rather tough experience for me. >.>

This is why I stopped trying to guess their next move because I never would have guessed uncut Naruto.

It should do well. The first series wasn't painful to watch once a week and it's almost inevitable that it will get doubled-up at some point.

If they needed something to hold the fort while Bleach is in reruns they probably picked one of the only shows that could keep the ratings up. Toonami may regularly break the millions for that first hour.

It's also one of the only shows that's strong enough to creep them into the 11PM hour. Expansion may be coming, but the MacFarlane show's have a death grip on the 10PM hour so 11PM might be the only additional hour in 2013 but we shall see.

I'm thinking Turner still had Naruto and all they had to do was get new tapes and maybe negotiate a renewal so the rights to lapse before they finish.

Shippuden would make more people happy I guess but it's not on the table.

Personally I'd rather see One Piece by a landslide and Yu Yu Hakusho would have been a nice pair with Bleach as well but if they did still have Naruto that made the decision for them and if they didn't have it, Viz was willing to play ball because it's an older title for them now and Toonami wanted it because it was their #2 biggest hit behind DBZ.

InuYasha The Final Act would have possibly been better for right now but this is a move that secures Toonami's position and may benefit it more than any other major series could. There's lots of positives here.

None the less it seems like Toonami is making a point of doing "almost" what the fans want and it is starting to add up. I have no complaints myself. I'll be watching Naruto again.

Naruto's on the block now? Well that does it, all of the people saying One Piece is too "kiddy" for the block can now officially stuff it.

Actually, it seems like Toonami had to re-buy the rights to Naruto, according to this post. I too would love to see One Piece eventually added, especially now that they are willing to re-air Naruto again from the beginning. One Piece has never aired on US TV Uncut before, so it would have the same appeal as Naruto airing Uncut. I just hope that the higher ups aren't reluctant to budge for One Piece just because of the supposed ratings decline when it last aired in 2008.

This has got me thinking of a scenario that would be highly debatable but, who's to say they won't try to air DBZ again if they get the opportunity? While a lot of us personally don't think they should (myself included), you can't deny that it was their biggest hit show and it would likely get ratings just like Naruto is projected to do. And hey, if they aired DBZ Uncut this time around, it would possibly be a draw. Then again, DBZ Uncut (the Redub of Seasons 1 and 2) didn't do all that well apparently when it was given a short lived run on the block, but part of that was airing it at 7pm. The main question is whether or not Nicktoons and Vortexx airing DBZ Kai prevents any of the DB franchise from airing on another network regularly. The April Fools stunt could have been an exception if such a rule is being applied.

I'd say one bigger talkback might be best. As for my thoughts? Hey, its Naruto, and I have no doubt it'll pull in ratings, added? Last time I saw those episodes were when they aired on Toonami the first time. So this could be fun.

I don't really like the idea of airing DBZ uncut. It could potentially bring in more ratings, but it's just so overexposed with DBZ Kai airing on the Vortexx and Nicktoons. Not to mention that they'll be able to continue the remaining arcs of the series in Kai, so I don't think that it would be worthwhile to put in the money to get DBZ uncut. At least Naruto doesn't have the same kind of over exposure. I'd much rather see them use their money to get One Piece uncut on the block.

I'm most likely going to make the Naruto Uncut into one unique talkback since the episode talkbacks have already been created and to prevent 130+ episode talkback flooding on the forums . You'll see how it looks when I finish up the design by next week.

One Piece is such a hard sell though.

True, but I'd rather see them trying to go for that series over DBZ airing again. Even if they couldn't get One Piece, I would greatly prefer seeing them spend what money they do have on new shows. DBZ is just overplayed, is already airing on a couple of channels through Kai, there are a ton of DVD sets for the series and there are new/more recent series that need that kind of exposure much more than DBZ does. At least with Naruto, it wasn't nearly as overexposed on Cartoon Network like DBZ was back in the day.

Now that they have two mega-shonens, I really hope they're not gonna be getting any more until either an expansion or when Bleach ends in 2014. Maybe if they're willing to alternate between shows. But already I'm not too fond of the idea of the first hour of Toonami being pretty much permanently locked in, and anything more than that would be overkill. I don't want the relatively more mature portion of the block getting the shaft, as it feels like is happening with Sam 7 being pushed to 2. Now that they have Naruto, I'd hope picking up something like Tiger and Bunny or Michiko to Hatchin or Black Lagoon would be a higher priority than getting DBZ (way overexposed) or One Piece (4Kids dented its reputation too much to really give it any hope with a casual audience).
