Seems kind of silly to reject a show based on fear of looking like yaoi bait, since, you know, there's really barely any of that, and fujoshi also watch and find subtext in Naruto of all things, so yeah. It's easy to market to guys and the built in audience of women 18-24 isn't bad for ratings one bit.

Though maybe the somewhat stereotypical portrayal of Fire Emblem was something that turned them off the show? It is kind of bad in the first episode but he does develop into a likeable relatively well-rounded character despite the queer stereotypes.

I agree, though the rabid American teenage girls didn't jump on Naruto until after the Toonami airings. Like I said, far fetched. I'm just trying to come up with semi logical reasons to pass up. There don't seem to be many. Besides maybe them just not liking it.

I think that it's simply a matter of the Toonami staff not liking the show. I could see how the first episode could turn off some people. I wasn't turned off by it but I could see how.

Watched the first half of the series, but that was a year ago...

But yeah, between Tiger&Bunny( a show with huge western appeal, right down to the artstyle), Heroman(takes place in friggen america, I "think" cali, and helmed by Stan Lee himself With cameo appearances), and GunXSword(cross between CowboyBebop, Kill Bill, Gurren Lagann, and G Gundam)

Those series are also under 30 episodes. Win pluckin Win

Heroman's stuck in some weird limbo with Disney (wish I knew the details and why it hasn't aired on XD), and it's a bit too directly a kids' show for this Toonami, closer to Zatch Bell than to Naruto or One Piece in tone and content.

The product placement seems to be the elephant in the room concerning a T&B TV deal. If only the companies who paid for the placement would subsidize a US airing; then we'd definitely see it.

How did they deal with it for Code Geass? Also why is it a problem? Didn't they already set-up deals for their logos and products to appear?

Personally, I think the sponsors and product placements are one of the cooler aspects of the show. Because Ustream is awesome.

For Code Geass, they digitally painted over the Pizza Hut logos with a generic design. I am sure they would have to do the same thing for a United States TV broadcast of Tiger & Bunny.

It's an issue because those companies didn't pay Turner to have their products advertised, so it would be allowing free advertising. Not only would Turner not be keen about it, but neither would the advertisers that do actually pay Turner for their products to be promoted. The existing deals that were setup up for the product placement were done so with Japanese television in mind, so they would likely not cover TV deals elsewhere.

Well, if they could get it to work, it'd definitely help spice Toonami up a bit. I don't think Jason makes that suggestion unless they really thought it could work, I'm thinking they already talked about it, otherwise, I'd say these posts never happen. It wouldn't seem like Jason would just announce something like that, then find out it can't work, even though he does say "if we could work that out"

I think that would be pretty interesting. It would be a great way to generate more questions in the hope that they could appear on TV and TOM/SARA answering them would be pretty cool.

They'd have to start advertising soon if it is a new pick up. Hopefully (super wishful thinking here) Animax gave them a package deal and it's Fate/Zero, Madoka or Bakemonogatari

Knowing Toonami, they'll wait till the week prior. Especially since the On Air Schedule is no longer there to "leak" schedule changes. Would be nice if they announce E7's replacement earlier than that, though.

I would be nice if they could announce the replacement sooner, but hopefully it will be a good show. I wonder if they'll move IGPX to 3AM to give the new show a slightly better timeslot. If Sword Art Online does well in ratings, I could see them doing that to give the new show a bit more of a chance to get better ratings too. Either way, I just hope that it's good enough to make me want to stay up that late. At this point, I'm just watching Eureka 7 because I'm already so close to the ending so I kind of feel obligated to see the rest of the episodes, but a new show airing at 3AM would need to be really good to make me want to follow its whole run.
