im also wondering if they could be considering high school dxd (the edited broadcast version) as well since it has 1 season already dubbed, a 2nd season being dubbed as we speak for a release next year, and a 3rd season to start airing in japan next year as well... while it starts off fan service heavy, it does get into action toward the ends of each season.

Looks more harem than action, to be honest. And we all know what happened with GXP...

I really doubt it. The action is minimal compared to the harem stuff and the fanservice. The uncensored breasts are constantly shown. It doesn't really fit.

Yeah, based on what I read about the series through a quick Google search, this really doesn't sound like it would be a good fit for the block. It sounds more like a harem series with a lot of fanservice and very little, if any, action to fit on the lineup. High School DxD doesn't really sound appealing to me, so I'd prefer it if it wasn't on the lineup.

it has broad appeal so it would probably do well in the ratings on the other hand there are plenty of poor sellers that can use the extra promotion. plus they have the censored version so no editing is required on the part of toonami.

what better serves funiamtions bottom line. helping a a lost cause in the hopes of pushing a few more copies or building even more interest for a series thats guaranteed to turn a profit anyway? its a tough call for them.

I'd love to see Psycho-Pass on Toonami. It has a second season on the way, so if it does well, then the second season can air there, too.

Jason DeMarco has confirmed that Beware the Batman will move up to 2:30am starting July 26th, pushing Black Lagoon down to 3am.

It actually does. I believe that's when they'll get to the episodes of Beware the Batman that haven't aired in the U.S. yet, so they'd want to give it a bit of a better timeslot. Plus, it has been doing better than Black Lagoon in terms of ratings for quite awhile, so moving it down in favor of new episodes of Beware the Batman makes sense. I'm personally quite glad to see that it has a better timeslot. While I was never too impressed by Beware the Batman when it aired on Cartoon Network proper, it was still pretty decent, had potential and definitely deserved better treatment, so seeing it get some attention on Toonami is really nice. I'm also still hopeful that this could lead to more DC shows/movies airing on the block.

I've been watching Beware the Batman via On Demand, but once they'll get to the new episodes, I'll watch it live. I'll most likely still watch Black Lagoon since I usually try to finish a series I've started. While I don't particularly like it, especially with how the second season has started so far, it hasn't gotten so bad to the point where I'd consider dropping it. Plus, I may still want to watch the Roberta's Bloodtrail OVA given that her arc has been one of the few highlights of the series thus far for me. I'm just not sure if I'll stay up to watch it live or if I'll wait until the next day to watch it On Demand.

Ah, ratings, that makes sense. BTB is good, but not really something that amazing to me. Then again, I grew up on TAS - out of the DC animated works, only Justice League comes close to being that good. The standard may just be too high.

I grew up on B:TAS too and it's still the best DC animated series, even though I think I like Batman Beyond more. Even on its own, Beware the Batman is good, but not really to write home about based on the episodes I've seen. I am glad to see that it's getting better treatment on Toonami than it did with Cartoon Network proper though.

If Toonami's looking for fresh American content, this seems like it'd do the trick.

I've never see Pacific Rim, but based on what I've heard, an animated series based on that movie would work for Toonami and would provide a bit of variety on their lineup.

I'm okay with Beware the Batman moving to 2:30. It makes sense because it'll be premiering new episodes then, not to mention it performs on par or better than BL ratings wise anyway. Also, personally, I've watched the entirety BL around a half-dozen times, so it moving down half an hour doesn't really bother me as much. I am disappointed it hasn't been doing as well as it could, though, since it's one of my favorite anime. Not all of the lines are bleeped and even then, most of the older anime titles they've aired before are legally available online, so I doubt that those would be the reasons why Black Lagoon has had weaker ratings for the most part since moving to 3AM. It might have been just a matter of people not wanting to stay up that late or the general audience just not caring for it.

Since each episode of the OVA is thirty-five minutes long, that would be difficult to do. Even airing the whole OVA as a movie would be difficult due to how long it would be even without factoring in commercial breaks.

I feel it that it could work if they gave the OVAs 45 minute timeslots and just air something else in the remaining 15 minutes of the hour, like an action-oriented [adult swim] pilot that didn't get picked up, reruns of Titan Maximum, or even just old HB action cartoons like Space Ghost and Birdman. I'm not sure if they would be up for doing that, mind you, but at the very least I think the idea is a feasible one.

I like Fairy Tail, but at this point, I think that there are more than enough long running shows on the lineup. Shippuden is years from seeing a conclusion, One Piece has no end in sight and DBZ Kai should be on the lineup for at least three years, probably more depending only how long the Buu Saga is, due to starting from the beginning. Even with Bleach ending in the fall, there are still three slots that are locked up for years. The first season would take roughly over four years to cover. Fairy Tail is a fun and enjoyable show, but I don't think that Toonami needs another long running show on the lineup at this point. Even if they are able to get the 11PM slot, I'd rather see them use it for another relatively short series.
