I miss Hamtaro ... (come on Discotek .. or NewVideo .. season sets plz!)
Colleague,
its just a matter of time. i'm positive it'll get released by one of the two eventually. i still think the hamataro toonami promo is one of their best. hats off to whoever got peter cullen to say "tonami presents a show about a hamster with mad skillz" lol

This isn't anything new since we've known that whether or not they like a show is a factor for picking a show. I don't know if that's the most important factor or not, but I don't think that's the reason why they don't have a large budget to work with. Besides that, even if their personal tastes didn't factor into the decision, I really can't see them airing Yu-Gi-Oh! DM. It is a heavily edited dub aimed at kids that wouldn't really fit on a block like Toonami that targets teenagers/young adults and I can't really see 4K Media/Konami being okay with one of their shows being on Toonami in the first place.
nah, the yugioh series has a much larger teen and young adult fanbase than most people think. the majority of the people who watched it when it first aired on kids wb and read it in the pages of north american shonen jump have become teens and young adults. the series is much like ninja turtles and power rangers in that despite being aimed primarily at kids there's a sizable older fanbase who supports it. there's a reason why the distributors of these series release expensive collectors edition boxsets sold exclusively online in addition to the cheap volume releases aimed at kids in brick and mortar stores. i've sold countless yugioh belongings over the years and the majority of people who bought it from me were adults who wanted it for their personal collection rather than parents who were buying it for their kids. koonami would probably be opposed to airing the current yugioh series on tooanmi but they would most definitely be okay with airing the classic series on the block. children aren't the only ones buying all the merch.
I'm beginning to think that you don't watch Toonami. Like, at all. Are you really trying to defend why Yu-Gi-Oh! should be on Toonami on [adult swim]? ADULT SWIM?!?!?! Come on, now.

yup i am defending a show about teens playing children cards games airing on toonami. Star wars, dbz, naruto bleach, symbiotic titan, thundercats, blue exorcist, one piece igpx, batman, inuyasha, samurai jack, etc. come on my man, let’s not pretend the content is that vastly different and the majority of stuff that has aired on toonami past or present is strictly for older audiences, even in their original uncut format. the same could be said for most western action cartoons and anime. when north american shonen jump was still in physical print there were advertisements for toys, cards, e rated video games, saturday morning cartons and children’s books. they even had even fan art submissions, puzzles and various giveaways for kids. but interestingly enough they also had tons of advertisements for adult swim anime, uncut dvd releases and mature rated manga. the people in charge understand that even stuff aimed at kids has toons of teen and adult consumers. the superhero and action genre usually appeal to people of all ages.
i could see where people were coming from if most toonami shows were along the lines of ghost in the shell or hellsing ultimate with extremely graphic content or mature dialogue but most of these shows aren't like that at all. take away the blood and cursing and most toonami shows skew very young. we’re going to have to agree to disagree because i find the thought of yugioh being too out of place to air on tonami mindboggling. Nobody actually WATCHES Toonami, they all just complain about it.
if you peeked into any of the episode threads you would know some of us do watch toonami every week. it’s just the nature of people on the web to criticize everything. It’s not only easier to do but complaining often results in more discussion than comments of praise usually do.
i can't speak for anyone else but the most of my favorite anime and carttons were series i watched on toonami. alosm i'm not a big sub person so toonami is one of the few places me and other dubbed anime fans can get our weekly fix. i wouldn't be exaggeratting if i said i have the dvds and blurays of the majority of shows that aired on toonami.
anyway its cool that tooami is airing the final act and reruning bleach. i was scared for a second that naruto wuld be the only viz anime on adult swim.
and sentai has aquired the home media rights to big o so they'll mostly work with toonami to air season one so that they can prmote the new dvds/blurays in 2015.
