"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

I guess that we could bump the old movie talkbacks since there might be people who didn't see them last year and/or people who would want to comment on the movie again. I don't see the harm in doing that at least.

Well for December 6, I am definitely going to be watching Hellsing Ultimate lX. I am not sure for Summer Wars.

I'm fine with Attack on Titan still airing in December if it means we get through the reruns a month sooner.

And yeah, I'll probably just watch Hellsing Ultimate and tune out after that. I've seen Summer Wars way too many times to have the desire to watch it yet again.

Speaking of, I call dibs on the Broly talkback. I mean, I am dong Kai, so...
:P

Finally, we have our first movie schedule! (Thanks to TitanTV for the info.)

As per tradition, movie nights will be starting at midnight, not 11:30 (AoT will still be rerunning there).

December 6:

11:30 - Attack on Titan
12:00 - Hellsing Ultimate IX
1:00 - Summer Wars
3:30-6:00 - Same shows as usual

I might have tuned in if Summer Wars were at 12 instead of Hellsing.

Should we expect something from Microsoft every November? If you take a look at previous years...

2012: Halo 4 Review
2013: Xbox One Demo/Broadcast
2014: Halo: The Master Chief Collection Review

Toonami's budget is tight. They gotta take any sponsorships they can, and Microsoft seems to be doing well for them.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing. If it gives Toonami a bigger budget, then I'm all for it. I just noticed a trend, that's all. If this trend continues, I wonder what we'll get from Microsoft next November.

After the movie month, Toonami will be shuffling the schedule and ringing the new year with the return of Deadman Wonderland and Cowboy Bebop with the new HD remaster footage, starting from the first episode. This is the lineup starting January 3rd:

11:30 - Attack on Titan
12:00 - DBZ Kai
12:30 - Naruto Shippuden
01:00 - Inuyasha Final Act
01:30 - One Piece
02:00 - Gurren Lagann
02:30 - Deadman Wonderland
03:00 - Bleach
03:30 - Space Dandy
04:00 - Cowboy Bebop (starting with eps 1, HD)
04:30 - Ghost in the Shell 2nd Gig
05:00 - IGPX
05:30 - Samurai Jack

IPGX just keeps on truckin'. I wish Space Dandy were rerunning earlier in the night, but oh well. I suppose it's fitting that it is next to Bebop.

So, FMA: Brotherhood FINALLY leaves the block.

I'm surprised that they brought back Deadman Wonderland. I think that I remember it got good ratings back when the block first came back so that might explain why they decided to bring it back. That and it was probably inexpensive for them to do so. While I thought it was a decent popcorn series, which was surprising given that I usually don't go for series with a lot of blood, it isn't anything that I particularly would want to sit through again.

At least they moved Final Act up on the lineup. That should make the fans of that series happy and it could lead into potentially good ratings for the block as well.

The HD re-master of Bebop looks great. It's like seeing the show for the first time all over again.

And finally, it can air on Toonami uncut!

Aw great, FMA leaves, in the middle of the run too. I was just watching that for the first time too. :/ I assume Big O doesn't finish its run either.

Well, at least I can check out Deadman Wonderland for the first time, that's pretty cool.

EDIT: Nevermind, Big O will finish it's run! Good news to me, still sucks for FMA tho.

I like that lineup. For me personally whatever airs 1am+ later doesn't matter too much to me cause I record as of that hour, but I don't mind them bringing InuYasha to 1am. One Piece for the most part may last a really long time as long as FUNi keeps dubbing it and Toonami keeps playing it, so we may see it at 1am again in time - perhaps after InuYasha's end.

Looking forward to Bebop restarting in HD, that + GITS back-to-back will make for a nice hour, given Dandy will still air prior, so the Watanabe hour continues. I wonder if we get the full intro and no ending still. I wouldn't mind it if one day they chose to not play the intro but played the full ending, just so people don't keep getting the real folk blues.

Interesting to see Deadman Wonderland return to the block. I don't remember it all too much now so I may watch it again.

Happy they moved IFA up the schedule (I've seen GL plenty of times) but I didn't think it would leapfrog OP. Though, given its ratings I probably shouldn't be surprised. Final Act is what, 26 episodes? I could see OP once again sliding in to that spot over the Summer.

Today marks the 15th Year Anniversary of ThunderCats (2011). While I find it unfortunate that the show was canceled before it had a chance to finish its story, I am glad that the show's art director was willing to give fans closure via a podcast interview.
Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
