"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

Will that be January 5th from 8-9 pm (CST)?

I don't know where you pulled that date and time from but my money is on some Sunday probably near the end of the month from 11 AM till whenever like they usually do. But who knows.

Oh, the last time I did the Toonami Reddit Q&A, it was the first Monday of the month (October, I think, was when I participated) from 8-9 pm CST. However, I didn't know if they were doing the Q&A again around the same time.

The Reddit Q&A with DeMarco was a special unofficial event. This is about the official Q&A that they occasionally run on their Tumblr page.

So for some reason Bleach re-runs are skipping from 284 to 290. I'm kinda curious why they decided to skip 285-289, is it due to the rights to those episodes lapsing with the new year?

I'm guessing the earliest episode they have the rights to lapses each week?

I was thinking that they know when it'll expire and they want the finale to air when it does.

So, was Bebop in HD uncut(all the cursing restored)? What about the opening and endings?

I don't know about everything yet (will edit when I finish), but for the first time, they edited Tank! D: I really hope they get that fixed.

EDIT: Seems like all cursing has been restored, although I'm not an expert. Ending is restored as well.

Colleagues,

i'm surprised but glad dead man is getting a second run. its one of the better neo toonami shows and hopefully international sales for the dvds and blu-rays are strong enough to warrant some future ovas. the series needed a second cour badly and the warden with the g cups didn't have nearly enough scenes.

for 2015 i guess the toonami lineup will mostly remain the same. since titan season 2 is confirmed for 2016 i can see the first season staying in 1130 slot unless ratings plummet. i can also see the final act having a second run. other than laganns replacement, a new funi anime and sao 2 that will pretty much be it for new series. hopefully with the surplus budget they'll air some more movies of the non-dbz variety.

I really hope that Attack on Titan doesn't stick on the lineup until they get a hold of season two. That won't happen for another year at the earliest and I would rather that they get something new after its second run. I'm not sure if I see them giving Final Act another run. They might if it does really well during its run and/or it was expensive to get from Viz similar to how Attack on Titan was expensive to get from Funimation, but I don't know if I see that happening.

As for Deadman Wonderland, I wouldn't get your hopes up for a continuation. From what I've read and heard, it did really poorly in Japan and I really doubt that international sales for the DVDs and Blu-Rays are high enough to warrant OVAs. If you want to see the whole story, your best bet is probably reading the manga, which ended awhile ago. I didn't really like Deadman Wonderland. It was an interesting popcorn show in a sense, but it didn't provide me enough by the end to make me either watch the series again or read the manga to see how the story turned out. It's nice that Funimation was able to do them a favor by letting them air it again and hopefully, they'll be able to get a good new show after they finish airing it again.

I could see them giving Final Act another run, especially now that they've lost the rights to most of their rerunning series and the only two not currently on being very short, but I'm certain it wouldn't be ahead of the premieres like Titan is.

I agree with TheCtes. I could see Final Act getting another run, especially if another Viz show is expensive. Anways, let us all hope that 2015 will be another good year for Toonami.

That is a good point. I forgot that they lost the rights to quite a few shows that they used as rerun material. I'm still not sure about Final Act getting another run, but depending on how well it does in ratings, using it for a rerun slot for later on in the block could be a possibility.

Episode 1 of Cowboy Bebop was completely uncut.

The opening and ending credits were professionally shortened.

The preview was cut, however.

A Toonami channel will be launched in Thailand on January 14. It'll probably be based on the Asian channel. Like Boomerang Thailand, it'll be owned by both Turner and the local company Major Kantana Broadcasting. [more info here]

Even though I'm not a fan of how CN Asia handles Toonami, it's nice to see the Toonami name expanding internationally once again.

So any word if there is any interest for Sailor Moon. The original or Crystal, either one?

Today marks the 15th Year Anniversary of ThunderCats (2011). While I find it unfortunate that the show was canceled before it had a chance to finish its story, I am glad that the show's art director was willing to give fans closure via a podcast interview.
Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
