Toonami has always been about animated action whether it's anime or otherwise. Neither Toonami nor ASA has ever drawn a line between whether the show is comedy/sitcom (Shin-Chan)/drama.
Shin-chan was never on Toonami, and even if it had been, it has the excuse of being an anime.
Now, if you want to address the elephant in the room, Hamatro, that was a self-acknowledged anomaly (Tom pointed it out in the opening bumper), and the only reason it made it on the block was because it was an anime. As I said, anime and action.
But if there are other examples you'd like to point out, by all means, do so.
There are plenty of ep of both FG & SC that are action-intense & fit that billing. I will be glad to educate you on that fact if need be.
Please don't tell me you're talking about Peter fighting the Chicken for 5 minutes.
Regardless, any "action" in Family Guy is totally different from the action in Bleach, Naruto, and Soul Eater.
Fri LLN ratings put Sat LLN ratings to shame & this applies only to [as].
Of course. More Americans are interested in watching American animated comedies than Japanese animated action shows. The point is that Toonami is aimed at a niche market,so comparing it to Family Guy is really foolish.
That's obvious weakness then & the main factor in that space on Fri is FG. Any one who doubts what FG can do there is simply ignorant to what it does everywhere else.
Putting Family Guy on Toonami isn't going to solve anything. First, people would just be put off by Family Guy being inserted in the middle of an action block. Second, any viewership the other shows gain would be minimal. I mean, how exactly is one half hour of Family Guy going to coax new viewers into watching the rest of the block? Most people would just watch it and then turn their TVs off.
And as El-Hazard said, if the situation is so dire that they need a huge ratings boost, they would just cancel Toonami.
