"Wander over Yonder" Series Talkback (SPOILERS)

The last show he worked on besides Cartoonstitute and Foster's was Chowder.

Oh, yeah, forgot about that. I couldn't get out of thinking about shows, though the fact that I forgot all about the Cartoonstitute is a pretty good indicator of how well it got treated. Ironic considering how much new talent getting shows came out of it anyway.

I'm also still baffled why people seem to think Disney is hostile to TV animation. I remember counting up the announcements at the last Disney upfront and found a roughly equal number of animated shows and live-action ones if I remember right. If "pre-school shows don't count" then you might be able to try to make the case that there isn't enough animation coming from Disney TV, but even then I still think you can't make the case that Disney doesn't care about it. The fact that this show was greenlit ought to be some evidence of that. There's also the fact that animation takes longer to produce but has a much longer shelf life as shows and merchandising.

To be fair, it's a show by CRAIG MCCRACKEN, the mastermind behind one of the most popular shows of the 90s/ 2000s, let alone Cartoon Network. To turn this show down would be like rejecting 100 grand.

Before P&F, the only notable cartoon to come from the Disney Channels was probably Kim Possible, and even that was never as "big" as SpongeBob or The Powerpuff Girls. For a long time, they seemed much more toothless than CN and Nick, but now, Nick is the most toothless one.

But if we're only talking about shows from DTVA, none of the more "extreme" shows on Disney XD have really went anywhere.

I hate to say it, but seeing how little Disney has acknowledged the show since first announcing it in early 2012, they may have reverted back to their "we only pander to tween girls" mindset.

You know, it doesn't help that other cool shows like Gravity Falls are getting screwed over, considering its strange scheduling. (I might be wrong.)

For our sake, I just hope Disney doesn't go WCW/ Nick on us and Bret Hart the show to death. Wasting the product of an artist with the caliber of McCracken will be the final hit that nails the coffin firmly shut for me with Disney (their TV product anyway). If it doesn't work out then hopefully Craig goes back to CN or goes indie and gets CN to pick up his shows but that's probably a stretch.

Disney isn't doing GF any favors and that's a travesty seeing as how it's the best thing they've got by default (and that's not a knock against the show at all). P&F is still popular but its schtick is getting old and even its popularity is gradually waning. Besides, didn't Disney enlist Gravity Falls to be their next top cartoon? At this rate, I can't tell if it's supposed to be the next Phineas & Ferb or the next The Replaceables. Nick may be toothless but Disney's in no position to bite either.

Too bad cartoons can't leave their channel and go air for the competition.

I just found an interesting few-days-old blog post from April Winchell, voice of Wander's steed Sylvia. It says the show will have a "sneak peek" after Phineas and Ferb next month (July or August?), and will formally premiere in October. It also has a photo of Lauren Faust signing Winchell's G1 MLP shirt, so yeah, that's something.

Pony Power

She said that the show will premier in October. Nice news, & hopefully we'll get more info at Comic-Con.

"Sneak peek" sounds like they're going to show a full episode earlier this summer, most likely after the Phineas and Ferb Marvel special. Here's hoping it doesn't get pushed aside for more live-action sitcoms/movies.

For those wondering, we'll be getting another preview at Comic-Con this year.

Creator and executive producer Alex Hirsch (Grunkle Stan), creative director Michael Rianda, and series stars Jason Ritter (Dipper) and Kristin Schaal (Mabel) uncover the mysteries of Disney Channel's hit series Gravity Falls. Find out what's in store for television's spookiest town with an exclusive clip from the show's exciting season finale and an audience Q&A. The panel will feature a sneak peek of Wander Over Yonder, the new series coming from Craig McCracken (Powerpuff Girls). Saturday July 20, 2013 11:00am - 12:00pm
Room 7AB
Yes, it's a Gravity Falls panel, but Craig will be there and another preview of the show is coming.

That is my biggest fear with this series - and that's only so far.
I'm not trying to steer this too off-topic, but I kind of expected Paul Rudish to be bought up sooner, seeing that the Mickey shorts seem to be doing well.

There are two promos online, and I saw one of them on Disney yesterday. The animation doesn't look as good as I expected it to be:

I keep watching and watching those videos, and still I haven't even cracked a smile. Should I be worried for the show itself, or am I just soulless today?

You're probably soulless today cuz I enjoyed them! Then again, anything made by Criag McCracken is pure gold! :)

I liked the one with Wander & his sandwich, but the only thing I've seen from the show that has stood out for me so far is Jack McBrayer's voice acting.

I'm not completely grabbed yet... The animation is alright, but if everything else can't keep up, I don't really care!

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
