Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be the cliched 'Lex hired the assassin'.

Superboy's got a cute alien chick blushing all over the place because he took his shirt off, he really needs to pick up on the clues and.....well, you know....

Man, I just love the art and animation in this show, it's just so dark and detailed and it's such a pleasure to sit back and admire. Simply amazing.

Hey, the show's trending on Twitter, neat. That's two animated things I watch in one week (Broly was trending Wednesday for the Nicktoons airing of that Dragon Ball Z movie).

After a 6 month break, new episodes of Young Justice resume on airwaves! We kick off this new batch with Red Arrow taking center stage!

*This episode (like the previous one) takes place in September, which is the month it first hit air waves! How cool is that?

*This interaction between Aqualad and Red Arrow must be a way to show these two are closer friends then they are with the others, which Greg Weisman mentioned on his Q & A website. I liked how Aqualad had to "translate" the metric system for Roy.

*Cheshire Cat returns, as well. Man, Red Arrow just keeps butting heads with the League of Shadows, doesn't he?

*Cheshire Cat's target was...Lex Luthor? In any case, this is Superman's arch enemy's makes his 1st appearance (or, if he truly is a member of the Light, 1st "Civilian Appearance") on the show. Who ever voices him is no Clancy Brown, but he still does a great job all the same.

*Lex commenting on Speedy doing his dirty work for free is similar to what Tombstone said to the wall crawler at the start of the Green Goblin Arc back in The Spectacular Spider-Man. Giving they both had Greg Weisman on the crew, it comes as no surprise.

*Robin is absent for the 2nd time and Kid Flash has his 1st absence, too.

*So the alien members of the Young Justice team will be attending school, huh? I liked how the idea for Suberboy's "civilian name" came about in this show, particular his and M'gann's ignorance of what "Kent" is a nod to. Miss Martian blushing when Superboy took off his shirt cracked me up and reminded me of some high school friends.

*Things are heating up at jail and Cheshire Cat informs Green Arrow's former pupil of her interest in his new one. Sports Master also makes his return to free Cheshire. Hmm...

*Hey look, it's Marvin and Wendy the "Jr. Heroes" from Super Friends! The latter starts up a rather quick friendship with Megan!

*Ra's al Ghul makes his 1st ("civilian") appearance (I think we can all agree he probably is a Light member). Looks like they're going with the DCAU pronunciation of his name. Red Arrow decides to call Aqualad for help, afterall.

*I loved how Superboy's answer to the teacher's question sounded robotic, it gave me a good laugh. Miss Martian reveals the Martian Civil War to Suberboy. Though she says one thing, her vocal tone (and the official website) seem to suggest otherwise...

*That battle in the banquet hall was pretty epic! Man, I've missed this show.

*Red Arrow admits he has respect for the Young Justice and, once again, shows he has a heart of gold. Hearing him sound "calm" was pretty neat.

*At first I thought Wendy liked M'gann's audition but the others didn't, the fact that it was an "initiation" was pretty clever.

*I cracked up at M'gann's reaction to Suberboy carrying her books and him flatly giving the most simple reason for it. It is pretty heart warming.

*The conversation between Lex and Ra's, more or less, tells us that they are members of the Light. Then again, the 7th one seems to be the only one causing people to scratch their heads.

Young Justice
has made an extremely strong comeback! I an't wait for next week's episode!

Good episode tonight, though it has me worried.

As obvious as it seems to be that Artemis is the 'mole'.. I feel like it's just being thrown in our faces as a way to lead us off the track of the real mole, you know? I mean.. it can't be as obvious as her IMO. Who knows, though. Maybe it is. I just have my doubts.

Very awesome episode, though. Nice seeing some Red Arrow action, and gotta love Cheshire. Was it just me or was there something there between 'em?

Yeah, this one really is fantastic. I like it even more than I did from when it was put online by mistake. I hope we see much more of the League of Shadows because when they get involved, the show's already-good action just goes into overdrive. It's fast, it's smart, it's skilled, it's practically opposite your standard slugfest that a lot of animated superhero action defaults to. Even the use of powers is inspired. That wall of water? The cool water dragon?

Loved the character development for Red Arrow. He starts off in the hardcore I-work-alone mode he's been in for most of the season but is smart enough to swallow his pride and ask for help. The scene toward the end where he finally expresses respect for the team is a satisfying shift that hopefully means the end of the disdainful attitude he's had to date, and his offer to help when called is a hopeful indicator he'll indeed be a recurring ally in episodes to come.

The entire angle with The Light is great stuff. Luthor and Ra's are confirmed as two members, which really isn't shocking. What is interesting and clever is how the two of them arranged things to further their goals without even arousing the slightest amount of suspicion from anybody, and the plan would have worked with or without Red Arrow's involvement at any given point in the plot. Yup, it's a Xanatos gambit! Most interestingly, though: what The Light did was good. A good thing in the interest of gaining more influence and power, granted, but still a good thing. And remember what we've learned about why Superboy exists too...he was there to replace Superman if he turned from The Light or if he happened to perish against the odds. The point being that "The Light" is a rational actor and perhaps more antagonistic than villainous. Perhaps like Cadmus from Justice League Unlimited minus excessively bad apples like General Eiling. Can't be sure and for all I know there is a really horrible villain driving all of this, but time will tell.

The mole subplot seems to be really starting up, but I think the plot point brought up in this episode is indeed a red herring. Sportsmaster may really have an informant of sorts, but the most likely one is decisively unlikely to be a traitor based on issue #7 of the comic book. Also note, how much did Sportsmaster really say? Not much. He just referenced knowledge about other missions the team has gone on. I rather wonder if he's simply telling a half-truth just to sow discord. It could even be a total lie. The Light knows what the team has been doing, Ra's is one of The Light, Sportsmaster takes orders from Ra's. Just saying.

The dialogue between Sportsmaster and Cheshire makes complete sense thanks to the context offered by the aforementioned issue #7, by the way.

The B plot with Superboy and Miss Martian was all right. Not that much progression really, but it did establish civilian lives for those two outside the cave. It's a worthwhile thing and that angle didn't overstay its welcome.

Great small moments:

  • Ra's being completely unmoved when Red Arrow shoots at him. Hardcore!
  • That sphere from Bereft basically being a pet. Superboy even talks to it.
  • "I might.....possibly.....be in over my head."
  • Everything Aqualad did with water. His talk with Red Arrow near the end. This was his best episode yet.

I enjoyed this episode, action and fun all around. But the real highlight for me was seeing clips of future episodes including a glimpse of the Joker in action (even though he was just talking).

haha

i like how superboy was about to get into a fight with a guy wearing a shirt with his (or supermans) logo on it... irony haha

Awesome to finally have Young Justice back :anime:
Great episode ,I enjoyed the fight scenes

I don't know why people are worried about this. Knowing Terra was a mole didn't hurt her arc on Teen Titans at all. Sometimes we don't need to be surprised for a story to work.

Since I posted in BATB, let's comment here too!

Overall, this was an excellent return after a long hiatus. This episode had everything you would want from a Young Justice episode: strong character work, excellent fight scenes, cool new versions of DC characters, and the mystery becomes more developed. I would have to say out of all the cartoons I've ever watched, this one may be the one that has the most finely developed and detailed world that I love to visit. I loved the allusion to the Koreas and the role of the Light in why they intervened. Luthor was great, though I'll admit his voice is a bit more easy-going than I would prefer. Red Arrow was a good character to shine the spotlight on, though I can't say I thought he would have gotten this much spotlight shined on him when the series began! That said, I'll admit to preferring the Superboy and Miss Martian storyline simply because I just enjoyed the character interaction...plus WENDY AND MARVIN HAVE RETURNED TO THE AIR WAVES!

In fact, going back to the first part of the sentence, I would have to say that's my one grievance with the show. It seems we're getting a row of spotlight episodes and not getting many where we see the team as an entire unit bond more. Maybe its just me, but I'd like to see the spotlight episodes spread out amongst the team episodes just a little bit more evenly so we can see more of....well, the team.

Anyway, I don't have many other major complaints. Great episode!

Good point, but we don't know who the mole is right now.

And based off #7 from the tie-in comics, she's not the mole.

As for this episode itself, it was really fun. Loved Red Arrow and Cheshire's interactions. I wonder if we'll be seeing Lian Harper in this show ;)

I don't really like the voice actor for Luthor. He sounds kinda off. But the casting for Ra's Al Ghul was perfect.

As for the Superboy and Miss Martian subplot, it was nice to see their school lives and all those DC cameos.

Something that stood out for me and really made me laugh was when Megan was initiated into the Bumblebees and got the juice dumped on her, Conner gets angry, but she mentally tells him to chill, so he ends up tripping and falling down the bleachers. Megan gets a pass since she knows he's okay, but all the other cheerleaders don't even acknowledge him until a little later when one of the cheerleaders says he's cute but weird. At that point he was still on the ground, so for all they knew he could have a serious concussion or injury. Gotta say, they're really apathetic for cheerleaders.

My favorite moment was in the final fight. When all those delegates are standing up huddled against each other and Luthor is still sitting at the table silently, just watching the battle unfold.

That and the "Kent" discussion.

At that point he was still on the ground, so for all they knew he could have a serious concussion or injury. Gotta say, they're really apathetic for cheerleaders.
That is a good point. No way those water bottles or the ground broke his fall too well. Is kinda weird they weren't concerned he was hurt.

They kept Cheshire underwear shot. :P I liked the episode better when I first watched it leaked, but I guess its mostly because of the "OMG its Lex Luthor and Ra's al Ghull" novelty factor. Still the episode is really good, and had some funny moments notably the "Kent" moment.

*This episode (like the previous one) takes place in September, which is the month it first hit air waves! How cool is that?
Considering we had to wait 6 months (?!) to get to this point I would say its not really cool at all.

As for the mole, I don't think its Artemis, based on the limited interaction and comic. We also don't know whether the mole is a who or a what.

Very good episode. As someone said, the dark colors were done nicely, and they really help the atmosphere when they have nighttime settings. The art direction is superb. Nobody has said this yet, but I find it humorous this episode came on the 16th.;)

Nice that Red Arrow has continued to warm up to the team. First his warning to Artemis in "Schooled" and now he's swallowed his pride and allowed Aqualad to help him watch for Cheshire. Speaking of Aqualad, his decision not to inform the League or Young Justice is a smart move as the team's leader. But, assuming the possibility he's the infiltrator, it also diverts suspicion away from him. Let's not forget that in the pilot he, Kid Flash and Robin were were held for a bit by Cadmus. Anything could have been done to their minds during that time. This is all assuming that brainwashing will be invloved. Plus, the infiltrator may be on the League...

I'm also really loving Sportsmaster and Cheshire. We need to see them together more often. I love this series take on Lex Luthor and Ra's Al Ghul, but I'm starting to feel more interested in them than in The Light.

I watched this when it was CN's website, but something about watching this with commercials just heightens the drama and tension. Can't wait for the first "real" episode next week! :p

EDIT: Holy [moley]! My post is the 16th post in this thread! That's just awesome. :D

Wow, this episode was a whole lot better than Batman this week. I really like this show, I like the animation, I like the fights, the diologue is really good... I am just really happy that the show is finally off its hiatus.

I'm glad that Speedy, I mean Red Arrow, swallowed his pride. His arrogance was starting to annoy me.

Super cool, no doubt. A whole episode dedicated to Red Arrow, with minimal B-plots dedicated to

Lex Luthor was absolutely perfect, but given Weisman's track record with "evil businessmen" (Xanatos, Tombstone), that's no surprise. Great quotes.

"Your stab at pragmatism is, well, adorable."

"So, you'll provide your service, but for free. I can live with that, hero. Now excuse me. I have a hemisphere to save."

"War income is pocket change compared to the billions to be made investing in a peaceful, united Rhelasia. And isn't it better to have peace, even if that scoundrel Lex Luthor profits from it?"

The voice is a bit of a change of pace, particularly since I just got off of STAS with the classic Clancy Brown, but it grew on my throughout the episode.

Solid action, of course, and the school stuff was better than I expected. Superboy's natural "cool guy" manner is so badass it's hilarious. Girls want him, guys want to be him, y'know?

As for the mole...?

I'm betting on Miss Martian as a RELUCTANT mole. Her "White Martian" speech with the hasty "of course, I mean, I'M a Green Martian!" tacked on to the end makes me suspect he's hiding something, at least, and I wouldn't be surprised to see her turn against the team out of a sense of debt or responsibility for one of the Light.

But frankly, I could see anyone being a traitor. So we'll see.

How's that possible? They are The Light!

That was really more of a joke/observation as it isn't everyday an episode (or movie, for that matter) airs on the month and year it takes place in. Not to mention there is a plus side to waiting for such a long time, we should be able to get through the rest of the 1st Season without any interruptions/hiatus, based on Greg Weisman's "Progress Update" on his Q & A Website.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I was surprised by (this show's version of) Mercy Graves' "little trick". Is she a cyborg in this show? It was definitely something I didn't see coming.
