Well that Pokemon marathon did awful but only the premiere of Pokemon did even acceptably well that morning. Let it Shine sure pumped up Disney. I saw it and thought it was a good movie.

the marathon doesnt seem that bad to me, i mean each episode pretty much outrated every other show airing that day outside of pokemon's new episode.. and that last pokemon airing , look how close it was to spongebob's ratings.. they aired "season 1" BW reruns and they all nearly outrated every other show that aired that night and the marathon's ratings went up every half hour.. if you ask me its the other shows that did pathetic..

It's alright if you see it from that perspective, but usually Johnny Test, The Looney Tunes Show, MAD or whatever airs in that slot gets above 2.0 and actually beats SpongeBob now and then. Though I guess with that comepetition from Disney it's alright.

Those ratings are sub-par. Let it Shine on Disney looked pretty good, though. So I won't totally blame Pokemon for it's performance.
Overall, I think Pokemon is in an unwatchable timeslot, for a show with such a wide appealing brand name. I bet other adults wouldn't mind catching up on Pokemon as well. Especially the adults that grew up with Pokemon in the 90s, since it'd be good to make fun of Ash Ketchum and Cilan in Black and White (haha)... if it was only in a watchable timeslot.

I only got into Pokemon again because I caught a "sneak peak" at 9pm on a Friday one year.

8:30 AM on a Saturday isn't that early and there are things like recording devices.

I don't think CN needs to give Pokemon prime time but a weekday afternoon slot would be friendly.

I do believe you are referring to the Team Go-Getters Mystery Dungeon Special and the Battle Frontier premiere.

I think that 8:30AM is a pretty good premiere slot and it's not that early. Like Andrew mentioned, people can record it and even if they miss it, they could catch up by watching the new episodes either On Demand or on Cartoon Network's website, so an evening timeslot to get adults into the series doesn't really feel necessary. Besides that, I don't know if that many adults would be interested in catching up on Pokemon. It's most likely a really small audience, or potential audience in this case, and Cartoon Network wouldn't really care about catering to an older audience. Plus, Pokemon works perfectly as a Saturday morning cartoon. While the weekday premieres they had for Battle Frontier and I think the first season of DP were nice and I did like how they did a bit more to hype up the new seasons back then than they do now, I don't think that Pokemon would do that much better in ratings with a prime time premiere slot. A weekday afternoon repeat slot would be pretty nice though.

A weekday afternoon slot would be a great change. Realistically, who knows who'd watch Pokemon if it was on in an afternoon/early evening slot. I'm sure tons of people/kids miss out on recording the sat morning slot because they don't know it's even there.

I can understand why CN is playing it safe by putting Pokemon Black and White on Saturday Mornings. Pokemon's past seasons' ratings performance hasn't been all that great . Then again, the last season of Pokemon I really enjoyed pre-black and white was Battle Frontier. (It got me back into Pokemon haha).

Diamond and Pearl's cheaper animation/writing was lost on me. Didn't feel ambitious, just Pokemon trying to be... well... Pokemon. Dunno how else to put that . That's why I like Black and White, it feels like the writing/animation is more ambitious compared to DP. Barring Ash's "new region amnesia" and Cilan's quirkiness, but w/e. Those ratings won't win Pokemon any new timeslots.

This is getting off topic but shiny animation aside I cannot stand how Ash acts in Black and White so I gave up on watching it. I much preferred Diamond and Pearl to that.

I don't think that many adults would find Black and White appealing because of how badly it is written (particularly the dub) but maybe that's just me.

If people seriously do not know where Pokemon airs by now that's their bad. It is occasionally advertised and has been on Saturday mornings for pretty much its entire existence on US television so CN is just following that tradition that started with KWB after it moved from syndication.

There should be enough of a clue for the kids to know where it airs even if they're just starting to watch it.

That said there's no solid reason why they can't give it a "better" time slot. It usually does as well or better than many shows on Saturday mornings in that 8:30 slot and could do even better in a less competitive slot for kids.

Back to ratings. I wonder how CN can get the total viewers for Weekends up. CN always takes a dip behind Nick Sat/Sun. They kinda don't have/need to put any more premieres on Sat/Sun, so I'm kinda wondering if CN will more or less always be Third place those days.

I personally think Diamond and Pearl are miles better than Black and White. Don't get me wrong the new is alright but there's barely focus on training and Iris or Cilan outside of filler/gags. I also dislike Ash having forgotten all his experience. DP was perfectly build up especially concerning the rivalry between Ash and Paul, Dawn in great focus too as well as low amount of filler because that was used to focus on training more than anything. Well I could explain further but back to the topic.

Pokemon's timeslot is good. The extra adult viewers they might get by putting it on in the evening is really small and why would the care about that demo. Pokemon's amount of adult viewers can actually be good for all we know, it's just K6-11 we see here. Keep in mind that no matter how long it runs it's still aimed towards children. Adults that care enough can watch on the website, record or whatever if they don't want to get up.

MAD wouldn't be a bad choice, remember how great it held up against Korra? Also, don't forget Johnny Test.

Classics would be perfect for the weekends! A great way to show case "the best of CN's cartoons" while also creating a schedule that's different from the weekdays.

Or as an alternative. Have weekends become a place to show action/adventure show marathons. Why have weekends resemble the weekdays, anyways? CN is sitting on so many action shows. Especially shows that already ended their run. It's down right criminal that CN rips a show right off the schedule once it's finished, especially one that could've found a bigger audience. /rant

However farfetched these ideas are. CN is gonna do "what works for it". We should hope we get marathons of the popular shows at least... shows kids are already seeing and enjoying on the weekdays would work just fine to pump up ratings.

Aldo, classics on weekends being good is probably not right. They don't do very great with K6-11. That's why they're on at noon mostly. When kids are in school. Also why they removed Tom and Jerry for the summer, since now kids will be at home.

Last sumer, Tom and Jerry got 2.084 million total viewers, which are great ratings for an early afternoon slot. If T&J doesn't do well with K6-11, why don't they pair it in the early morning with the classic Looney Tunes?

We also saw Looney Tunes with some decent ratings at 6AM and 1AM (I believe) a page or two ago. I think it can do fine on weekends. Maybe like CNRulzz said, a pairing with Tom and Jerry. I think that could be perfect for the 6AM or 7AM hour.

Looney Tunes (1:00pm) 2.056 million viewers (0.5 Adults 18-49 rating)
Tom & Jerry Tales (2:00pm) 1.993 million viewers (0.5 Adults 18-49 rating)

Nice to see older episodes pulling in great numbers, considering they were unadvertised. Correct me if I'm wrong but both of these numbers beat MAD's Monday night premiere yes?
