"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

It appears Funi may have just inadvertently confirmed a simulrun of Attack on Titan 2 whenever that gets made,

It says Funi will be debuting dubs of two new shows the day they also debut in Japan; it says nothing about a second AoT. Common sense would assume it's inevitable, but with Japan you never know.

That's what Dalek meant; since they're doing this for Psycho-Pass 2, it seems highly likely they'd do the same for AoT 2. He didn't mean literally confirmed.

With Funimation's most recent announcement, it seems that the one thing that I didn't want to happen to Toonami might actually happen. (that's Toonami becoming the Crunchyroll of cable TV, if you didn't know)

I wouldn't be surprised if they did go that route with the inevitable second season of Attack on Titan. It would make sense given how immensely popular the series is and how good the ratings are. If they could give it the Space Dandy treatment, then the ratings could be potentially even better.

That would be awesome, but I am not sure if it would happen.

It'd be awesome in terms of content, but not so much in terms of people's perspective of Toonami. People want...no, expect Toonami to be an anime block instead of an action animation block, and if Toonami gets the latest anime from Funimation, their largest content provider, that would only raise their expectations.

To be fair, they keep getting anime since it's cheaper to get and there aren't a lot of western animated series that they have access to, so it's only natural that they would go for more anime titles to make up their lineup. Even so, they still refer to Toonami as an action block, rather than just an anime block, so I don't think that something like this would drastically change people's perspective of Toonami like that.

Dandy had the advantage of only needing a handful of in-house voice actors with the occasional new voice here and there. To pull off a simuldub of Titan given its cast size would be very impressive. I have my doubts they would try it given how important the franchise is. But hey, never say never, I suppose.

Yeah but Titan's got an advantage of already having mostly been cast. Same reason why SAOII will probably show up on Toonami in the next few months.

Colleague,

i hope dubbing will start soon for sword art online season two so that it can air after lagann finishes its run. it would be even sweeter if toonami placed it at 11:30 when attack on titan finishes its second run in the event that they don't have another big funimation anime to air in that slot. either way its pretty much guaranteed to air sometime in 2015. can't wait.

Being already cast and getting the cast (that size) together for a simuldub would be quite the feat as not everyone is mainly in-house like Dandy. Again, it would be very impressive if they can/try to pull it off.

Bleach will be rerunning from episode 282 beginning November 15th @ 2:30am.

Not from episode 1? I'm a bit disappointed, but oh well.

Considering how long Aniplex is taking on its dub of Kill la Kill, it may be late 2015 before SAO II even airs (if they haven't started dubbing the GGO arc yet at the very least).

282 is a weird episode to start on considering it's just the battle with Stark. Honestly why not go back at least to the start of season 12 with 266 as that's at least would be a more solid place for a restart. The only thing I can think of is 282 is the first episode from 2013 so maybe they want to just show episodes within the last two years, and maybe can't show more. I don't know it's hard to tell exactly how the rights with the super longer shows go. I assume if a series is done in fragments that means the rights overall are easier to obtain thus why Inuyasha lasted on the block so long but maybe it's different now. Who knows.

Is there an advanced schedule somewhere? It's not mentioned on the Tumblr, Twitter, or Ask.fm.

Ah, found it. Thanks!

That is a random place to start airing Bleach reruns. I was expecting them to start with the first episode instead. That's a bit odd. I thought that it wouldn't have reruns this soon after the series ends, but I guess it makes sense given how long the show has been on the air and how well it does in ratings. It could help give the later hours a bit of a boost.

It should've ran for as many seasons and episodes as its post-predecessor Uncle Grandpa did.
I wish Imgur wasn't allowed on this forum until the time is right for a return since it's been unavailable in the UK since last September, so I don't see why people use links from the site for here when it's no longer available in the UK and I'm really angry that their parent company made this stupid decision.
Happy 45th anniversary, MTV.
MeTV Toons is a great channel when it comes to classic cartoons, but we know it can be way better. The Duck4Real (me!) elaborates on this in his latest YouTube vlog. Watch it!
