at least part of what I said was about Sonic Boom and how there will be no meat to the story or characters. the creators said EVERYTHING will be reset for each episode, no consequences, at all. even The Simpsons had their characters grow without continuity.

With all due respect. Please STOP with this. Sonic Boom is going to be a comedy with little to no continuity. All of the complaining in the world isn't going to change that, so you might as well accept that and let this subject drop. You're just repeating yourself now and it's becoming annoying.

OK, Rainbow Dash Fan. We get it. If you don't like the show, just don't watch it when it airs. But seriously, stop derailing the thread by complaining about the same things and let the people who are interested discuss the show. You have a thread for discussing SatAM. Why not use that?

Looney Tunes. Created 80 years ago, and still hailed today as some of the greatest characters ever created in the history of animation. To this day, many of their old cartoons hold up and are still funny; everyone who learns about animation learn from looney tunes since they are one of the great bench marks for animation. They were not simply a product of their time(though some references they make can be dated), but they are timeless characters. They are some of the most beloved characters in history, and they never needed to develop or modernize. They are meant to exist in the moment, and make us laugh and love them who they are, not what they might become. The entertainment they have brought audiences for 80 years completely justifies their creation

Heck, video game characters like Sonic also show this. Sonic and Mario are beloved characters not because they developed over the years, but because they made fun games. Heck sometimes development can work against a character. Like Samus... she didn't have development in the old games, but then we got Metroid: Other M which many fans actually felt worked AGAINST her character and made her worst. Other M is evidence that just adding development to something does NOT automatically make it better. The kind of development also matters; you do it poorly, then you are better off having no development at all. Shows having development and continuity is just ONE way to make a great show, not the ONLY way

Sonic Boom is meant to entertain. Like Looney tunes its meant to live in the moment and entertain.

Constantly comparing this series to Sonic SATAM when you already have a thread for that topic is also off-topic. Please stop or you will receive an infraction.

Yeah, Sonic is in fact THE example of how trying to add drama to a character can actually damage them in the long term

Therefore I em more than glad to see a new show that sticks closer to the fun nature of the games, and doesn't try to hamfist angst into everything

this isn't specifically about Satam but how Boom will fail with most people if it is all silly and funny, and some misconceptions I am getting. all the time. just because the games failed at adding serious drama in the mix doesn't mean it's impossible to do for Sonic. unless you are a big fan of comedy, no one wants something completely devoid of drama or character development these days.

It's pretty hard to make that claim when we haven't even seen a full episode of the series yet. If the humor is appealing enough to the target audience, then I don't think that it will fail. Plus, the majority of Cartoon Network's current original shows are comedies, so even if it's just being silly and funny all the time, it could work for the kids watching. Being a comedy also doesn't necessarily mean that it is devoid of drama or character development. Shows like Adventure Time and Steven Universe are primarily comedies, but they do have drama and character development, so Sonic Boom could have that as well.

I can understand that and there are comedy series that aren't able to balance out comedy and drama that well. Still, I'd wait until we actually see the show before making such claims like it's going to fail.

As long as Sonic Boom is coming soon, I think CN should consider adding it to their Saturday morning lineup starting September 6th.

Here's how I see it:

7:30 - Tenkai Knights
8:00 - Pokemon: The Series XY
8:30 - Sonic Boom
9:00 - Ben 10: Omniverse
9:30 - Legends of Chima

And there you have it: a recipe for a potential Saturday morning lineup on CN in the Fall.
If this doesn't come off as an improvement, nothing will.

I'd rather see Sonic Boom on primetime weeknights with most of Cartoon Network's shows. I think it would do great at primetime.

They might put Sonic Boom repeats on Saturday mornings, but I think that they'll probably put premiere episodes sometime on weekdays since that's what they do with their other comedy series.

Simple: better ratings. Cartoon Network's premieres on weeknights are watched by more people than their Saturday morning premieres. Their weeknight premieres generally get around two million in ratings each while their Saturday premieres generally get around one million each. If Cartoon Network wants Sonic Boom to get real good ratings, then they should put it on weeknights.

While I'm sure Sonic Boom will have action, it will be mostly comedy. Heck, Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Steven Universe are mostly comedies, but they have action as well.

Like Gatordragon mentioned, it would be for better ratings. That's why they put all of their other comedy series on weeknights because more people watch them compared to the shows on Saturday mornings. It's really not surprising and I think that there is a better chance that they'll put Boom on weeknights instead of Saturday mornings.
