International Disney Networks Thread Part 17

Yep, not with "their own Belgian schedule" but the "Western European one" (for countries with both Disney Channel and Disney Jr.), but DC Flanders and DC Wallonia are played out separately and still exist

DC Flanders share also the same schedule as DC Netherlands (and DC Wallonia), obviously, but it is still played out differently

Why are the channels still played out separately? Because it is easier, because of timing (especially due to advertising insertions), to have different feeds (now that they have the technology) playing out the same content, rather than having advertising opt-outs whose length can differ from territory to territory.

Simply, Sky Italy viewers are used to less advertising than FTA channels.

Both because Italian licenced channels (Disney Jr is not one of them, but it behaves as a consequence) laws have tighter limits on pay TV channels (although not by much), and because people expect pay TV channels to have less advertising (or less invasive advertising) in general, especially on children's TV channels.

So, it kind of make sense, pay TV channels have always been expected to behave "differently" over here, because they are not treated as "normal channels", not as much as the UK, and especially the US.

Showing too much advertising, ironically, would mean losing revenues.
I remember when DC UK started airing ads during the swansong of rounded square

According to TVInfo.de, Descendants: Wicked Wonderland will air this Thursday (July 16) on Disney Channel Germany at 8;15pm (same day as the USA).

Also, I'm a bit late, but here are some of the other movies airing (or have aired) on DC Germany this month (sources: TVInfo.de and Fernsehserien):
- Enchanted (2007)
- The Lion King (1994)
- Juno (2007)
- Ever After: A Cinderella Story
- Three Men and a Baby
- Little Miss Sunshine
- Cars 3
- Robin Hood (1973)
- Freaky Friday (2003)
- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
- The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
- Big Hero 6 (2014)

Bro I wish at least one feed in Europe would be bold and air like, Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh! or Beyblade or something. There is virtually no acquired content on Disney in the region anymore.

DC Italy (I would say Italy preferred European live-action) and Spain used to be very badly overrun with random European and Canadian acquisitions. I'm not counting France because they have a French production quota and Disney usually had some sort of involvement in them. My friend Logan researched Teen Days, an obscure Italian show, which was shown by DC France and randomly had a French dub produced under DCVI with DC France star talents.

The British feedd in its last few years reminded me of the first two you mentioned

I remember back in like 2007 when Disney Channel Asia reran Pepper Ann at 5am.

And in 2012, Disney Channel Germany randomly aired The Proud Family in the afternoon. That same year, the very same feed (Germany) also aired Atomic Betty at night. IMO, missed opportunity for DC Germany in 2012 to air Atomic Betty in the afternoon alongside Totally Spies! and Kim Possible instead of shoving it to nighttime alongside the live-action shows. That was by far the only downside I have for Disney Channel Germany's schedule for like most of 2012. Again, just my opinion.

Right now, Disney Channel Germany is airing appears to be the last episode of Vikingskool. Episode 25 ("The Hands of Loki") aired today as well:

After that, no more airings of Vikingskool are scheduled on Disney Channel Germany through August.

Looks like they aired all remaining episodes of the series.

It's official: I have now preordered GTA VI for PlayStation 5; the more expensive and feature-complete Ultimate Edition of the game, that is. I also intend to buy a PS5 Slim optical drive next month(?) in the hopes of maybe indirectly convincing SIE to reverse its controversial plans to go all-digital on all post–Jan 2028 PS console games, even though GTA VI is a digital-only game.
Happy anniversary to "SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout".
Here's the Totally Spies' 25th anniversary music video:
