"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

How? Isn't the show still in production? It hasn't even aired yet in Japan!

I guess since Cowboy Bebop has been the biggest thing in America for the past decade and a half, they figure it's worth a shot to try to replicate that as much as possible, and that means talking to their prospective American partners right off the bat. It's certainly no coincidence that there are thematic similarities just from the tiny bit we know so far and the revealed staff is nearly identical. It seems like Kanno must be doing the music again, but with no mention of her despite her being a guest at Otakon as well, I'm a little confused about that. Maybe she'll be revealing it herself.

Anyway, I hope this all goes as perfectly as planned.

With FUNi getting the Bebop license, maybe AS can finally get those HD tapes. And restore most of the edits(besides the S-bomb). And maybe Escaflowne can get a proper TV airing.

The Sentai panel at AB mentioned they were still hoping to get shows on Toonami. Maybe Big O could be the key to that.

I thought they were cutting out the Jar Jar episodes! What's he doing in that commercial!?! Automatic ratings killer there...

They have very little that Toonami would be interested in airing outside of some old crap that failed already, the SMT shows, and Majestic Prince.

Here's the Star Wars: The Clone Wars promo. It's going to be airing at 3AM.

That works fine for me. I'll be able to go to bed slightly earlier starting next week. I'm kind of surprised that they aren't airing it at 2:30AM, but maybe they didn't want to move IGPX again until after it finishes its first run.

I guess I can still sleep at 2am for sure, then. I would have stayed up for Star Wars if it was at 2:30, but I ain't sitting through both Sword Art and IGPX for it, no way.

Naaaah, don't be like that. It's the comedy/childish throw-away episodes that Toonami is cutting out. Not all of the Jar Jar episodes are unimportant to SW:CW's main plot. (I'm assuming that's why we still get Jar Jar.) The Jar Jar episodes we do get probably aren't focused on him.

Also, I was rolling when the announcer said "Filler never felt so good." That was a great touch! Thank you, Toonami crew.

Anyone up for making a Clone Wars talkback image? I'm considering making a talkback thread next week.

Probably'll end up do one thread for each season.

I think one thread for the whole thing is enough. Like it was done with Eureka, IGPX and Inuyasha.

I guess that works too. I was going to argue that I think 100+ episodes is too much for one talkback, but I forgot we had an Inuyasha series talkback going (which I guess died from inactivity a few months ago...)

Well, I think there is a good chance that Star Wars will get more comments due to the series' popularity.

Perhaps, but the series is very recent and many people here have seen it already. We saw how that worled with InuYasha. The skipping episodes thing should put the episode number below 100 btw.

Well, either works.

On a related subject, I'm noticing that, thanks to the removal of the On-Air Schedule and DeMarco's insistence on hiding schedule changes even after they've officially been announced, we STILL don't know what episode they're starting on with Clone Wars. Hell, the show still isn't even listed yet! All of Adult Swim's schedules (both frontdoor and backdoor) just have a blank spot in its slot for the next two weeks, and sources like TVGuide and Zap2It either still have Eureka 7 or a big fat "TBA" in that slot.

It sounds a bit silly, but I'd kind of like to know what episodes they're airing in advance if they'll be skipping over episodes.

I agree, I loved the on-air schedule for the exact same thing. Well, it was useful for a lot of things. It's nice to know how far into a show you are, and the on-air schedule was a great place to find out. I hope they'll begin revealing what episodes they're skipping in advance.
