Does Space Dandy's booby monster from episode 3 count as nudity since there wasn't anything censored?

The first part of that scene had the nipples blurred out. Once the alien sprouted multiple breasts and started appearing more alien-like, the censoring stopped.

For record, female nudity is only a problem if there are nipples. If there aren't, it seems to be fine. Kill la Kill seems to have no nipples, even on the blu-ray, so it should pass.

The "Mother & Daughter" scene, however... I'm not sure if that'll get through intact.

I never did watch Sword Art Online, but given that show apparently had

Is you see the mother actually sexually pleasuring her, going from her breasts to her vaginal area, all on screen. What was on Sword Art Online isn't anywhere near severe. The tentacle scene is laughable, as it looks more like it's "strangling" her, and the "molestation" is just him licking her face and grabbing the side of her breasts, but it doesn't go any further than that.

Don't compare this to Sword Art Online, as that is extremely tame compared to this.

I agree. In fact, the tentacle scene aired with a TV-PG. The Kill la Kill scene is borderline HBO Game of Thrones.

Could Toonami get some lighter anime for its next aquisition? I mean, Space Dandy was popular, so why not another anime comedy? Or if they dont want to go full-fledged comedy, why not something like Slayers (which has numerous series, so they wouldnt run out of episodes too soon), which mixes action and comedy (kind of like One Piece)?

Slayers won't happen. Toonami's on record saying they won't pick up anything older than Cowboy Bebop, and most of Slayers is older than that. Revolution and Evolution-R are the only "modern" entries in the franchise and are often regarded in the Slayers fandom as being lesser entries.

Slayers NEXT, the best season of them all (directed by the great Seiji Mizushima) honestly should have happened, but it likely won't at this point.

Yeah, as much as I'd like to see Slayers on Toonami, it's most likely isn't going to happen. The first three series are too old and I'm not sure if they'd be interested in Revolution/Evolution-R. Revolution was pretty lackluster in my opinion, but Evolution-R was an improvement. I consider Revolution/Evolution-R to be one series, rather than two, and I would consider it an improvement over Try in most areas, even though I also didn't think Try was nearly as bad as I had first heard about it. Slayers Next is still the best Slayers series and it would be great to see it on Toonami, but it's sadly not going to happen. Too bad that the original three Slayers series didn't air on the original Toonami. That might have made it more likely for them to air Revolution/Evolution-R now at least.

In terms of more a light-hearted show, I think that Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple would be a good fit for the block. It has a pretty good balance of action and comedy, most of the characters are likable and/or entertaining and it's a pretty fun series. The pacing can be a bit off, especially when the episode recaps can go on for five minutes, the fanservice is so blatant as they focus on nearly every female characters' breast and/or body all the time, especially during fights, and the ending, from what I remember, was pretty lackluster. Still, it was a pretty enjoyable series to watch with some really good fights and pretty good comedy, so I wouldn't mind if they eventually got that for Toonami. It would be a bit refreshing to have something a bit more light-hearted on the block.

Another possible show they could look into could be Shakugan no Shana. I'm not sure if it would be exactly light-hearted, especially given its initial premise and the world they setup, but I could kind of see it working on the block. Unlike something like Blue Exorcist, the first series actually has a good balance between the fantasy action and slice of life drama where neither side overpowers the other. That goes out the window for the first half of the second series though and it takes them way too long to kick start the plot, but its second half kind of makes up for that. Final is practically all action with little romance, which at that point was a good thing in my opinion considering how that brought down Second so much, and the storyline is better, but it suffers from being way too faithful to the source material when the other two series weren't. It throws in way too many new characters all at once and one of the main leads becomes incredibly unlikable to the point where I wanted someone to punch him all the time, even after they explained his motivation. Still, when the series is good, it's usually pretty darn good and I could see it fitting on Toonami pretty well.

The thing about Shana though is that there are two very different voice casts. The first season (which Geneon released) has the Ocean Group dubbing it. FUNimation, when they took over the license, decided to dub everything else in-house and not re-hire Ocean Group for financial reasons (not enough potential return on investment to make it worth paying more money to hire Ocean). The Shakugan no Shana movie and sequel seasons have a Texas-based cast. When the dub cast change was announced FUNimation took a lot of flak for it and the sequel seasons and the movie did not sell that well, though Shana has never been a popular franchise Stateside to begin with so I don't know if the voice cast change played a role in that. But I don't know if FUNimation wants to call attention to the fact that they did a recast.

IMO, the Texas-cast was better-directed than the Ocean cast, but that's a largely subjective opinion on my end.

I suppose they could run the movie first to see how well the material plays, as the movie is a compressed and re-animated recap of the first season (and actually a decent one at that), and the voices for the movie are the Texas-based cast. Then if the movie does well the two sequel seasons can be picked up.

I knew that the two sequel seasons, movie and OVA had a different cast, but I didn't know that they got a lot of flak for it. There were a couple of voices from the Geneon dub that I liked more and I was disappointed with the different cast once I started the second season, but I got used to it fairly quickly and I also think that the acting was better for the most part. I'm not sure if that would be a reason why the other seasons and movie didn't sell well, but if they really got a lot of flak for the recast, then that could have been a factor. Airing the movie could be a good was to test the waters for the show. It does capture most of the first arc's strengths and had a pretty good flow to it. It would probably be helpful to air the first season if they wanted to air the rest of the series, but the movie might be good to test how the series could perform on the block.

Personally, I would prefer seeing them getting Kenichi primarily due to being slightest shorter and I haven't seen it in a long time. Shakugan no Shana would be a pretty good choice though and I think it could fit on the block pretty well.

That's true and I did say that I wasn't sure if it could be considered light-hearted. I could still see it fitting on the block relatively well, but in terms of picking a show that is definitely more light-hearted, Kenichi would be the better choice of the two.

There's a user on Twitter I follow who's absolutely in love with this new anime called Black Bullet, and is quite often suggesting that it air on Toonami. (FYI, I won't mention any names, as I've learned my lesson from Akira-gate.) However, from what I've seen of the show, I have to question whether it would belong. From what little details I've heard of it, while it looks to be somewhat of an action show, it's also a show where a young guy in his teens to twenties deals with a harem made of freakin' grade school girls. And let's be honest, from what I hear, the underage fanservice of Sword Art Online was too much, and those were teenage girls.

With the big Sailor Moon annoucnement and be licensed by VIZ, and it used to air on Toonami, perhaps that could be Bleach replacement. It is old, but still new at the same time.

I'm not sure if they'd be interested in getting the original series. Even with a redub, it would probably be too old for them to consider putting it on the lineup. Plus, the series has two hundred episodes, so that locks in another timeslot for over four years. Not to mention Viz Media would probably be more interested in giving Crystal a TV deal more so than the original series. I could see them airing Crystal. It actually is new, rather than an older show with a much needed redub, but would also appeal to the nostalgia crowd, especially when the anime hasn't been overexposed compared to older shows like DBZ. Granted, with it airing on a bi-weekly schedule, I don't know when they could start dubbing it, so that might take awhile, but I imagine that they'd be more interested in Crystal than the redub of the original series airing on Toonami.

The new series, that could be Bleach's replacement (assuming they're going for the Adult Swim demographic with the show as opposed to going younger). The old series, if we see it on the block it'll probably be as part of a package deal, probably replacing the Naruto reruns.

You guys keep forgetting the new show is a biweekly. They'll have only about 11 or so episodes done by the time Toonami runs out of Bleach in November
