"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

Some other Cartoon Network stuff became unavailable though. SWAT Kats and other stuff from awhile ago is probably either getting on Boomerang or nowhere.

Besides, didn't they say anything older than Bebop that's not DBZ-level is a no-go?

Also, DeMarco did say they won't air anything they don't personally like (i.e. Yu-Gi-Oh!) so it's also possible that he and/or the rest of the Toonami crew didn't care for SWAT Kats.

I doubt they disliked Swat Kats. Also Im sorry to say this Mister Free but Toonami cant just air something because its "Very Popular Online" Swat Kats is very beloved yes, but its a small yet vocal minority. They cant just risk airing it and then finding out the hype was empty.

Also onto another Mister. Mister Mayhem, where did you get that the Toonami crew no longer calls the shots? I think it was very clear from the beginning that they called the shots and that any change in the lineup was up to them, sure the Schedule got a lot shorter and the major CN/Adult Swim execs had a say in that but they still let the Toonami Crew do what they want with the actual Show Lineup. For better or worse, Jason De Marco has the final say on what goes and what doesnt, unless the higher ups just decide to kill Toonami. One Piece Repeats were a failed experiment, but one that was NEVER tied to Toonami from the get go. It was the higher ups throwing an olive branch to fans. Which makes me feel that they wanted to reassure the fans that anime wasnt in any trouble.

I... thought Kim Manning gets the final say.

OOPS! I knew I was wrong to put all the power to De Marco. But yeah, Kim has a bigger say on what goes but even she only forbids certain shows that are too over the top (Sexy/Gross/Violent) for Toonami like Panty And Stocking With Garterbelt. She doesnt remove shows. And even if she did it seems she is into One Piece, it would have ever made it to Tooanmi otherwise.

You REALLY sure about that? There's people out there willing to trash the Looney Tunes, so it's more entirely possible that the Toonami crew wouldn't like SWAT Kats. It doesn't fall under "show that already airs on kids hours/networks". Besides, if they really wanted to air it, they'd have done so during the CN era.

I don't see them touching anything Hanna-Barbera again. I mean, unless Warner Bros. does a Galaxy Trio reboot or something. If you really want to see Swat Kats, buy the DVD set.

Yeah. I just felt it was too harsh to say that and the "Vocal Minority" thing in the same post.

Adding something as old and free as SWAT Kats seems like a moot point unless they have at least 5 hours again.

Though I must admit, I would like to see some SWAT Kats bumpers.

Toonami Asia is adopting an all-anime block.

The channel largely focuses on Western animation, and even though they have the occasional anime on their lineup, they never thought about lumping them together...till now.

I'm jealous of the Yokai Watch, but everything else on there is meh. Also, are they really running the original DBZ over Kai? Is it uncut/remastered?

The description of that video says they're airing Kai, despite the fact that the video leads a person to believe they're airing the original.

Actually, they've aired both. I doubt they can air them uncut, considering they censor the heck out of Adventure Time, Regular Show and even Gumball on CN Asia.

Looks like there will be a Kill La Kill marathon for Memorial Day weekend. https://mobile.twitter.com/SwimToonami/status/593456805457600512

Schedule for Memorial Day:
12:00 - DBZ Kai
12:30 - Kill la Kill # 10
01:00 - Kill la Kill # 11
01:30 - Kill la Kill # 12
02:00 - Kill la Kill # 13
02:30 - Kill la Kill # 14
03:00 - Kill la Kill # 15

Oh Toonami, you're Kill la Killing us!... (too soon?) Occasional marathon is good, even with DBZK as a lead in (and happy it stays on May 23), KlK feels sturdy enough on its own, but we'll see how reruns do.

I would have preferred a movie, but I couldn't get into Kill La Kill, so a marathon doesn't sound too appealing to me anyway. It does make sense given how well the series has been doing ratings wise and maybe they think it could turn out successful like their Attack on Titan marathon last year. At least I don't have to stay up late like I usual do on Saturday night, so that's nice.

I was hoping they'd air Battle of Gods that night instead. Perhaps they still could for the 4th of July?

Countrymen,

Bad choice. Should have aired the first seven episodes of sword art online 2 instead.

Today marks the 15th Year Anniversary of ThunderCats (2011). While I find it unfortunate that the show was canceled before it had a chance to finish its story, I am glad that the show's art director was willing to give fans closure via a podcast interview.
Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
