WBD Acquisition Thread

Portugal also has the HBO Max and SkyShowtime streaming services too, just like Denmark.

However, Portugal doesn't have Discovery Science, Animal Planet, Pluto TV or Nicktoons. And Portugal also doesn't have WBD-owned local TV channels the same way Denmark has Kanal 4, Kanal 5, 6'eren and Canal 9.
Yeah, I excluded streaming services from my list.

the post-Soviet space

Paramount:
Nickelodeon, Nick Jr, Nicktoons and MTV Global

Warner: Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2, Eurosport 4k, Animal Planet, Discovery, investigation Discovery, Cartoon Network, Cartoonito, CNN, TLC, HGTV, Food Network and Travel Channel. + streaming HBO Max

I'm curious with what PSKY is going to start the cuts after acquiring WBD. Employees? Channels? Again cancelling movies for tax write-offs?

I was just told that WBD's channels in Poland are not working.

I don't think it has to do with the news of the potential merger

I feel like the majority of WBD-related cuts this time around will be to the ex-Discovery channels and not the ex-WarnerMedia ones.

Conspiracy theories building up? =)))))

This was what he said yesterday:

"And Ellison told analysts that he is bullish on streaming’s ad-supported FAST channel sector, and that Paramount eventually will invest “10x” in engineering talent as part of the revitalization plan for the studio.

Pressed for examples of how the new regime is executing its plan to use technological upgrades to drive operating improvements at the more than 100-year-old studio, Ellison pointed to changes already made but he indicated that there is much more to come.

“When you look at the engineers that we have at the company currently, you can expect us to kind of 10x the size of the headcount that we are basically investing towards this,” Ellison said. “We really want to be in a position where we can be a leader in the industry in terms of how this transformation is shaped.”"

If this doesn't spell company-wide integration of Oracle AI, I don't know what to tell you.

If it's duplicative, one brand will be kept and the other will be tossed into the shredder.

Ellison made cuts to Paramount Global with no contingency plan at all because he was betting on the WarnerDiscovery pursuit the whole time so expect more sloppy work done there.

I think that the end of the contracts with the record labels on MTV feeds outside the USA, Japan, Taiwan and Israel was one thing

Either way, I don't trust Paramount in Italy and UK with the FTA channels.
Here in Italy they closed Paramount Network, Spike and VH1. In UK they closed (5)Spike, Paramount Network, Smithsonian Channel and VIVA.
The WBD FTA channels aren't safe at all with them.

There's duplication with CN & Nick, CBS News & CNN, HBO & Showtime, HBO Max & Paramount+, etc.

Ellison's certainly going to wring cuts out of them if he can.

If we had Comedy Central, it would have shut down earlier

I don't see Comedy Central closing they could as well market Adult Swim there especially since they have South Park but MTV and Cartoonito those could be goners.

Adult Swim going 24/7 (outside of Canada)

...What it does have to do with FTA channels owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, though? I'm talking of the likes of Nove and Quest.
I misunderstood. But then again Paramount's licensing to local terrestrial TV here is limited nowadays. It's largely because the terrestrial market isn't interested in US content anymore
